Scuba diving

Sky diving

Rock climbing

Anything where you're not sat on your arse. Wink

Unless you need an HGV licence for something specific? I believe you have to do regular tests once you've got it to keep it valid?

Every time I learn something new it pushes something old out of my head.

Like last week I learned to wine taste and forgot how to drive...the copper said It was because I was drunk but thats a conspiricy.

Just doing my HGV at the moment , it's not cheap , has cost me £1000 so far , i failed my first test due to getting myself into a blindspot and having to ask the examiner to check for oncoming traffic before i could pull out of a very tight junction , he told me i had done excactly The right thing by asking him but unfortunatley had to fail me for it .
I made the mistake on an unfamilure road of following road markings instead of completely straddeling 2 lanes of the road in order to give myself more visibility . a hard lesson to learn! and i have a retest shortly.

I have also learned that HGV driving requires an incredibley high standard of driving it is NOT just like driving a big car and is quite possibley the hardest test you will ever take.

If you see a wagon on a roundabout don't undertake him or try and race him around in the wrong lane and if you see a lorry indicating to move over or change lanes , flash him out if you can
as it really does help and we are very grateful when it happens
Cheers.
Thumbs Up

Unless you're looking for a job as a driver, there must be something better.

I did scuba a couple of years ago, the bike last year, next on the list (in no particular order) are:

Sky diving (freefall)
Fixed wing pilot
Helicopter pilot

Paragliding?

Tried it out a couple of months ago and quite enjoyed it; relaxing, I reckon.

You need a licence to drive a HGV? Shocked Wink

Half the people who deliver to work when I'm on the yard don't seem like they could take a primary school reading test let alone any vehicle test. We had one today who'd driven from the depot in Wales, all the way to us, his first drop off in Cornwall, with his tail-lift folded the first step down Shocked Confused No lights or number plate visible as a consequence, and there's only 2 push in pins that hold it up when it's not stowed away properly.

Nah, on a whole the drivers are good bunch, just get one or two of the old boys make mistakes and knock things/other vehicles whilst reversing in. I expect it is very hard to drive though, as you say.

not HGV but PCV licence acquired many years ago, did some part time bus/coach driving. Havent used it in years but always know that I can work if I get desperate and need to use it. Simply renew it every 5 years....so always handy to have...

HGV pretty similar other than tacho's and the fact that you will have different trailers etc....

Was it hard? Nope easier than driving a car, more vision, more respect from other peeps (especially if female - shock horror female driving large thing, god no way....blah some things dont change).

If you fancy it and have the money give it a go, it will always come in useful and agency HGV drivers always get a good rate if you fancy a change in career!!!
