Managed to get hold of the Japanese version and it lives up to the hype. Graphics and handling are superb and if you've played GT before then it'll take some getting used to. All in all a great game they've pulled off. Also expanded on the photo mode from GT4...

Almost certainly no..

Manufacturers wont let their car/bike be shown in a bad light generally (exception of rally games for some reason) not even haveing smoke comeing off the e.t.c.

If its not released in the uk i'll be chiping the hell out of my ps2 and getting hold of it, i'd be very dissapointed in them if they dont sell it in the uk..

what about forza motorsport? the cars get smashed up on the outside and performance suffers for it!
im sure there are other games that do more than cosmetic damage

Playstation magazine did a preview of it last month, with an ETA of july (or june cant remember).

And surely the guys behind GT - which is amazingly popular over here dont forget - would be stupid to not release it here, the demand for outstandingly brilliant racing games in the UK gamer scene, is huge.

For the same reasons you dont on gt as well, drawing each car with realistic damage takes aaaages, they spend several days per car as it is! they just couldn't..
The other thing, if 1 out of 10 makers dont want their cars/bikes shown damaged then they cant use that 1, so all of them have to be damage free, haveing more cars/bikes is more important for some games.. most games where cars will be nadgered will use cars with different names allthough its obvious the car its pretending to be (like gta or burnout2)

Could be wrong though...

The way in which games like GT4 etc are mmade pushes the system to its absolute limit, at any given moment the PS2 is working its ass off to run a game like that, so much so that some slowdown is noticeable when running large numbers of cars on certain tracks with alot of action happening.

Damage is another cpu draining feature that would suck up a fair bit of memory both ram and storage.

granted havaing damage on the cars would only require about 5- 10% more processing power, but thats probably the difference betwean the graphics in GT4 and the rest.

the people who make GT4 are obsessed with getting it as realistic as possible, having test driven all the cars in the game. to keep with this, they would also have to drive every car into a wall several times in the test drive.

Damage is a nice feature to have, but it doesnt put people off playing, if anything its an advantage keeping people playing for longer being able to do long races looking at a brand new car rather than looking at a smashed up wreck for 3 laps then having to retire Laughing

That game looks awesome, it could easily devour £150 out of my wallet and a few weeks of my life if i let it Shocked Neutral
