Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me. I'm very new to all this so you'll have to forgive me if i get some of it wrong.

I have just set up a new user on my webserver and have set up ftp access for that user, i have restricted them to /var/www/sites/horde (so that is their new root in ftp) and i wan't to do the same with ssh.

From what i can understand i need to run something like chroot -u user - group /new root

Is this correct or am i way off the mark?

Please help, it's all hurting my head. Very Happy

I have been reading various manuals but they all mention mounting various folders in the new chroot folder. What i mean is they all seem very overly complicated for something that should i would hope/guess be very simple.

Me too. Thumbs Up Do they absolutely have to have it? Big security risk. If they do then at least ensure it's a 'jailed' shell so they won't have access to files outside of their home directory, as well as denying them more powerful commands.

You really don't want them rooting around in your base horde directory either... Shocked
