Hey Folks!
Thinking of buying one of those Oxford Boss Alarm disc locks in the near future. Would anybody out there recommend or diss it? ____________________ Bikes are an addiction for which there's no rehab!! |

J&S are doing a chain and disc lock cobo with the same key for £19.99. While the quality is never going to give the likes of Almax any worries, it is not too bad. Both fit underneath my seat. I think a casual thief would be less likely to try and pinch your bike if you had both a chain and disc lock on. https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/hermes/shop/12,1,100 Look at the Dr Bike Twin Lock Pack.

video of an oxford monster chain being cropped at ally pally last week. Doubt away, I'm afraid it's true.

English chain quad link being done as well.
The 30 seconds by a novice was actually by the editor of MCN at the bike show, NEC last year. |

What's the fecking point of making them T/A if that can happen?
One thing that makes me feel better is the fact that my bike is 12 years old and not a brand new R1!!!

I should think you're reasonably safe then, the pikeys who carry those sorts of croppers around usually steal bikes to order / for spares, and they'll concentrate on bikes that'll give them a good return i.e. newish ones!
One good thing about the exposure these chains are getting re how easy they are to crop, it's embarrassed Thatcham a bit and I believe they're reassessing the tests they carry out before awarding approval status.
It's also worth remembering that several disc / U-locks achieved Thatcham Approval and were recently exposed as being capable of being opened in a few seconds using a ballpoint pen! Thatcham subsequently withdrew their Approved ststus, again because of prople like the chap in these videos demonstrating publicly on forums like this how easy they were to get past. I for one think he's doing a great job for us all, it can only result in improved security of future products! |

i have seen people weld a y shaped bracket to one handle of the bolt cutter's, so that they cutters dont twist when they are pressing them against they floor. This means they dont have to struggle to keep the cutters upright as the guy in the video is having too. Making you cut a chain much quicker. Personally id buy everything you can carry including an alarm! ____________________ My eBay Items |
