I have a bit of a problem.

I have an MP3 file which contains 2 songs, only problem being there's a 4 minute gap of silence between them, anyone know how I go about editing the file so I can split the songs up in to 2 seperate files and be rid of the silent bit?

You could try Audacity from https://audacity.sourceforge.net/.

It's freeware and very good. you have to import your MP3 file and export the results as MP3 file[/url]

Cool edit pro 2 like what Andy said. I use it all the time when i'm writing my songs. It's very good and intuitive. Drag and cut. Spacebar to play. Use multiple layers and can be used as a multitrack.

find it off limewire.

Goldwave is a good, free tool. It's shareware.

I personally use Soundforge. But I use it for audio mastering and stuff.
