You going to court for 55 in a 30?

Well I got a NIP through and it didn't say anything about points/fine etc it just said "intended prosecution" and some other bits, I just assumed it was a court thing as I thought that if it was just fine/points that I'd have had to send a cheque off for the fine straight away Confused

Just looking at the forms it implies court... I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Is it your first speeding conviction sparks?

IF so, you may just get 3 points and a small fine.

I got caught doing 56 in a 30 in July 04. I ended up with 6 points and 350 fine.

One was a forward facing blue thing flashed me twice when i was coming back from newcastle and the other was me not getting away just being lucky i guess.

I called my insurance and gave them all the details etc... seem pretty helpful, they say the fact he was going pretty fast is irelevant really as they can't prove anything.

They say they are going to look into the lights to see if they are faulty or not. It's looking likely that 100% liability will fall onto me. Not much I can do though I made a mistake I agree and admit but the light WAS on green.. going to have to chalk it down to experience I think. I will be writing to Southampton Council though and try and get a fucking red light put up on the filter light side like every other filter I've ever seen.

Just noticed though that my NIP is a fixed penalty notice so HOPEFULLY that's only £60 + 3 points and either way i shouldn't be going to court! Can't wait to get the letter thought tellin me what I get.. as then that can be resolved and no need to worry bout it.

Well you weren't "caught" then.. I've riden past cameras on my bike numerous times when they're forward facing.. including on 1 wheel Laughing

Ahhh! I see. You didn't get caught either way though so you're lucky Very Happy

And G2Fast yes its my first conviction. Not bad for 4 years of biking and 7 or so months of car driving.

That will just mean you have to sit there waiting when nothing is coming the other way.

All the best

Only difference would be that when you failed to give way you would have jumped a light.

Not sure around you but green lights with a seperate green for the filter and no red for the filter are very common round here. Quite useful and far better than being stuck looking at an empty road waiting for the lights to change.

All the best

Keith

I got done for 87 in a 40 and got away with a fixed penalty. 3 points & £40 I think it was. The copper who stopped me said there wasn't any other traffic & I looked to be in full control but he couldn't let me off as it was over double the speed limit. I think I was doing about 105 when I first spotted him.
I thanked him for the ticket and I meant it.

What are these filter lights Confused

Are they normal traffic lights with green arrows instead of the green light, or something?

I would say round here there are more of them than the type you want. The ones you want are a total pain in the ass, sitting watching nothing going past just because you have a red light.

All the best

You either upset the copper, didn't accept the fixed penalty or took it to court.

Fook me, you got off lightly. Always going to be bad since you bought the car mint and want to keep it that way but no need to fix it if it still works as well as it did before. Thumbs Up

Nah, I'd fix it. You're going to want to sell it at some point I'd imagine. Plus, it'll go all rusty and horrible.Thumbs Up

Damage doesnt look too bad sparks. Have it looked at, its likely the bonnet and wing will straighten but the headlight and bracket assembly will be fooked.

Do us all one of those lovely paint pot drawings people always do so we can look at the layout and see whats what. Some of us may even learn something.

Dont worry about all taht 'making your own bad luck' rubbsih, sometimes you dont have to look far for trouble and sometimes it even finds you for no reason.

Hope things work out mate, chin up!

Aye, fair doos, but fix it when you're just about ready to sell, that makes most sense. Smile That way you can keep an eye on breakers and source the cheapest parts.

I was planning on selling it really soon, I'm hooked on stunt riding now and want to get a pick up truck to lug my bike about. I planned to sell or swap the peugeot for a Toyota Hilux twin cab (around 95/96 not a nice shiney truck unfortunately) but now with 1 accident on my insurance and 3 maybe 6 points it's probably not looking all that likely Confused

I haven't driven it since I crashed it lol I feel safer on my bike... not scared of driving as such I just don't want any more accidents or any thing else to have to pay for.

The only parts that need replacing are right front wing, bonnet and headlight grille.. all of these judging by ebay prices can be got for less than £200 but theres none on ebay in the right colours at the minute, so will just have to be patient and get bits as and when.

Is it easy to change the bonnet and wing etc?

Also do I need to worry that my airbag didn't go off? Or does this only happen on bigger bumps.. to be honest I don't recall even moving personally as in being thrown forward, I only just clipped his car.. presume you need a big head on thump before air bag goes off.

Changing the wing and bonne wont be the hard part, its getting everything to line up that will be hard mate Sad

I imagine the bag would have activated on a harsher front bump where the impact sensors are. Saying that though I hit a metro at about 15-20 and it didnt deploy - thats was square on too.
