I am looking to book my theory test asap. Was just wondering how much the actual test is.

I am 25 so I am going to do the unrestricted test. By the time I come to do it I should not need any lessons. May be just one day with an instructor to tell me if I am ready (which I will do before I book the test)

So how much am i looking at to just do the test?

Hi short1uk,

Here's a link to the Driving Standards Agency test fees table. You're looking at 21 pounds for the theory and 55 pounds for the practical (unless you're getting that fee included as part of the days training?).

The one days training varies but I guess would be about a ton?

HTH and good luck Thumbs Up I'll have DA myself when I can scrape the cash together...

DA - direct access, ride any bike-this test must be done on a 500cc or bike of a certain bhp,so you would need to hire the bike because you cannot ride it without being accompanied by an instructor under radio contact. so it is difficult to do it any other way than with an approved training centre. i do know to take test only with bike hire is about £110

DAS (or DA above, I guess) is the direct access scheme that lets you ride any bike (have to be over 21 to take it). Hundreds of pounds (about £500) will get you 5 days training including CBT and practical test with bike hire and insurance. The government test fee itself is as stated above.

If you already have your CBT and only want one days training, you're going to be paying less. Even if you've ridden thousands of miles on a 125cc, I'd suggest at least one days training, to get used to the 500cc bike you'll be doing the test on and pick up tips about the test, and then there's the test day itself. 2 days, with bike, insurance, test fee and instructor (until you pass you test, you can't ride >125cc bike by yourself) is going to cost you about £200, perhaps a little bit more.

I agree - book your theory test as soon as possible and get it out of the way. There are plenty of CDRoms and books on EBay for a couple of quid if you need any help with it, and a search through this forum will provide plenty of links to practice questions too.
