When needing to look smart...

Well ive got an interview for work experience next Tuesday and obvioulsy need to look respectable.

Thing is, ive no idea if there is anywhere to change, or have anywhere to put my leathers.

I dont mind going without the trousers for a short journey, but i dont have waterproofs or anything if the weathers not too good (and dont get paid till Friday).

So, if you have gone to an interview and have to take your bike, what do you wear/get change etc (and im not talking about a suit )

i generally wear a nice pair of bootcut jeans to cover my bike boots, a nice shirt, t-shirt under it if its cold, and thats about it, id take my jacket off, and leave it with my lid in the reception area, and gell my hair in the bogs, wash my face and hands, spray on some bo spray or aftershave, and then flirt with any nearby girls to take my mind off the interview lol

I wore a suit to my last job interview and rode my bike to it from Aberdeen to Cumbria.

Stopped at a petrol station just before the company, changed into the suit, stuffed the leathers into a rucksack and rode the last 1/2 mile in the suit. Dumped the rucksack and lid in reception.

I also stuck the leathers back on over the top of the smart trousers, shirt and tie and went straight to a rally afterwards, got some funny looks from the other rally goers, walking round in leather jeans, shirt and tie while shopping for a clean t-shirt and some combat trousers.

I wear trousers, shirt and tie every day for work, I just put my textiles over the top and hey presto all I have to do is take them off and change my boots for shoes, jobs a goodun

There's bound to be some toilets to get changed in, just take a bag you'll be OK otherwise get some of those cheapo waterproof oversuits that folk put over their leathers, at least it'll protect your clothes, just don't fall off !

And do wear a suit if you have one, it creates a good impression. It's amazing how many guys I've interviewed who don't bother. The lads that make the effort always tend to stand out above the rest when your reviewing the interview results.

Call the company and explain the situation to the reception and ask if they have anywhere to change. Changes are they do, as they need to go to the loo, too (as well as change into their uniforms.

I'm in my current job although I turned up in my bike gear, complete with squeaky boots. I had to do the interview on my way to work, so told the recruitment agency to check with the manager if this would be OK. You never know, the person interviewing you might be a biker, too...

I had to carry my boots with heels in a rucksack and change when I got to school in the bogs, and put my hair up...

was a right git. cold too.

They have to have toilets there.. just use them

I had an interview at short notice 2 weeks ago. Because the suit is needing dry cleaned and I was skint I just phoned the chap and said "blah blah would like to make a good impression but I will only be able to get there on my bike" (the area has no public transport at all - own transport only.).

I walk in, black boots, black 2 piece leathers, black lid, black visor, black gloves. Everyone else getting interviewed was wearing a suit. As soon as I walked into the interview I got a scowl from the HR woman but the main dude asked.. "What do you ride?"

Literally half an hour later the interview starts proper. Lasted 5 minutes.

There is no harm in asking if they mind if you either get changed or turn up in bike gear.

When I was interviewed for Hein Gericke I asked the same question... Basically was told "I don't care how you come, you'll be dressed how you dress for any job interview".

So me and a mate took our smart gear in rucksacks and got changed in the bar toilets (I was interviewed at a holiday inn or something)

I gotta wear shirt/tie/trousers to work, I wear black combats (waterproof/warm in winter) and then shirt+tie under leather jacket.

I also have a marine interview on the 16th next month, for this i need to be pressed and ready, but will still wear smart trousers and shirt,etc under leather jacket. and carry gear around with me.

I always thought, if you ride a motorbike, (with all protective gear on) and goto an interview, it shows a good impression as, although it may be difficult to get to an interview looking smart (on a bike) you still put in all the effort. (first impressions and all)
