OK, most of you probably know about my crash, today marked the beginning of the fixing process. The bike is named Dixie because of the numberplate, flip named her
Basically, here's how the bike was looking after the crash;

You can see how the top H frame has been pushed back which has split the RHS upper fairing Thankfully I had a spare upper fairing, and a spare H frame.
https://img135.imageshack.us/img135/5150/dscf4647small3mn.jpg
Clocks had been pushed back so far they were fowling the top yoke. I first thought the forks were bent, when I was trying to move it in a state of semi-conciousness, but after further investigation and a streetfightered test ride, the forks are straight.
Today's job
Today I decided to strip all the damaged panels off, and replace my H frame. With my neck still giving me jib, I dragged the toolbox over to the front of the bike, and began the stripping process
https://img63.imageshack.us/img63/3087/dscf4649small8gx.jpg
Here's the bike after I'd gotten the fairing off, with the bent H frame in place. The sight of all those wires made me weak in the knees, but I decided that whatever I did, I couldn't really make things any worse So I took a pic of how the wires were all connected (incase I forgot), and started to pull them.

The pic of the wiring. It was all multiblocks really, easy peasy.
At this point I found something which unsettled me a little. The H frame had been replaced by a dealer not long ago, because my spare one was very slightly bent (I later bent the old one back into shape, it was hardly anything, but an insurance company were paying for a new one, so meh). They hadn't replaced one bolt to secure the rear of the H frame to the bike's frame, which had allowed the top fairing to flex with the impact. If it had of been secure the damage may have been less severe...

The knackered H frame (nearest) and the good H frame (distant).

Here I have ringed where the frame bent. The main bolt part which goes through the headstock had bent a LOT, as you can see from the picture. This moved the clocks back... I didn't notice this when I took the pic, only when I was putting it away. The pic shows it quite well though.

The front end now totally stripped away before I refitted the clocks and frame.

Done, and with the bike looking like an F-Raiden, the new frame is installed, and the clocks are back in place.

The side the bike went down on. Luckily I'd already dropped the bike on this side, and was planning to repair it anyway. None of the major damage is visible here, it's mainly confined to the fairings. Headlights are there to check they'd been connected correctly, and so I could check the left hand switch gear was still working.

This side is fine!

Clocks reconnected

Think I could do with a new clutch lever and gear selector Both of which should be on their way by now, thanks ebay...
Here's a picture of the spare panel I've got for the RHS, I sprayed it myself (was scratched badly before)

The only bike I haven't crashed and you do it twice?
Looks quite smart without the fairings. 125 street fighter?
Good luck fixing her, dude. I'll keep an eye on this thread. |

Engine looks too small for a streetfighter That massive great frame, then a tiny single cylinder engine I did ride it round half-faired once when I took the fairings off for a clean, and by the time I'd finished it was too dark to put them back on. Everyone took the mickey out of it
I've now repaired all the upper fairing, just the lowers to do now, and then it's a matter of waiting for the levers to make their way through the postal system...
Still got to decide whether to keep it or not. Got to think long and hard about whether the fun that biking brings is worth the risks it also inevitably brings... ____________________ ::'04 Yamaha Jog:: || ::'01 Honda NSR:: || ::'00 Suzuki Swift:: || ::'89 Swift GTi:: || ::'96 Swift Poverty Spec:: || ::'92 Swift GTi:: |

The left hand clipon is down. Just need an allen key on it to sort it out
I was worrying they were too at first, but I spent about an hour measuring them, looking down them etc, and test rode it, and all is fine. The clipon moved last time I dropped it, too, and I just put it right.
That's another job for tomorrow which I'd forgotten about!
