Will a complete exhaust system from an older style SV650, fit on the newer?

I have my eye on this. Razz

What I find strange is that the answer to the first question is "it came off a curvy" but the second answer is "It came off a 2003 [pointy] model" Confused

I think there is a difference beacuse the pointy models had an oil cooler added. The pipe has more of an angle at the front cyclinder. The Micron pipes shown look like they're off a pointy, but I'm not 100% sure. Ask the seller if he has a pick of it on the bike.

No, it won't fit.

I think it will. Not because they are interchangeable between pointy and curvy, but because I think that particular system is for a pointy. It has a double bend in the pipe from the front cylinder.

The standard pipes for both pointy and curvy don't have a double bend as standard. That system is a micron aftermarket set so it won't be possible to compare.

You can see this pictorially here

It gets even worse in that a K3 pointy system will NOT fit onto a K4/K5/K6 pointy bike - which is yours?

True. The oil cooler was fitted to the K4 onwards.

I was thinking that the Miron system having two bends would mean it would have a more obtuse angle from the cylinder head, and so would most likely fit the K3+

Just noticed that in those pictures the oil cooler on the K3 pointy's not fitted?! Strange that Confused . It was fitted to the K3 - at least all the K3's I've ever seen have them and it's mentioned on the 2003 press launch. The K4 onwards system won't fit the K3 due to frame changes they made at the rear to accommodate the battery/toolkit box.

Also as the power was increased from 70 to 72 horses it's possible the lengths of the pipes changed.

Well, I spoke with him. It was frmo a curvy frame one. apparantly it was made just before they changed the model. Looking at the two side by side, I dont think it would fit.

It won't fit. Why do you want to change it though. I've left mine as standard and get loads of people saying my bike sounds really nice. It's also a lot easier on the ears if you do a high milage plus and ultimately my reason for not removing the standard is that IMO any bike less than 750cc sounds tinny with a race can. Only large capacity bikes sound fruity enough to pull it off. The rest are just annoying.

Plus the SV is a skinny little thing and the large standard muffler leaves people in no doubt its a 650cc and not a cbr125 that Dodsi thought mine was last week Laughing

Jimmy - 1 - Have you ever used a bike before thats had a race system on it? It doesn't take that much getting used to when you're on the motorway so it's just as easy to use with a standard can on than it is with a race system on. Should be wearing earplugs anyway so I don't see how it makes a difference.

2 - A race system on a machine can compeltely change the power delivery and improve it (or so the owner may feel)

3 - Tinny sounds from an sv650? Laughing Okay so my firestorm does sound meatier but the sv was far from tinny when it sounded like this

You obviously haven't heard an SV650 with a Remus can. It is in no way tinny, even less so with the baffle out. Everyone comments on how nice the sound is.
