sound and graphics cards...

I need to update the drivers for my sound and graphics cards but i dont know which ones i have, how do i find out? and no i dont have the manual.

My computer> 'right click' Properties>hardware>device manager.

What does it say your gfx cards is and your sound card? they should be easy enough to find of the net.

if they're just cheap cards/components then they'll likely show up as VGA controller and multimedia audio controller (or at worst unknown devie) which doesnt help.

do you have any documentation that may indicate what was supplied with the system?

If it's a laptop, then go to the laptop maker's website, and search for drivers for your model.

Most decent laptop makers have websites with all the drivees on.

This is all assuming the make isn't Mcogjfof.

fucking hell, the sound is being a real bastard. I need either -

sis 7012 or
realtek alc200 (17meg download Sad

neither of which re working. make sure u have the right drivers before you put a new operating system on people lol

many hours and nagging to come to bed later it's done! thanks for all the help, couldn't have done it otherwise! I just installed realtek in safe mode and it did it no fuss!
