Hi, Having spent the best part of the weekend checking my Fazer600 (routine maintenance) Ive managed to go from having a bike that works fine to one that wont start!

I took out the spark plugs + checked the gaps+ wire brushed them, put them back in and now the bike makes a strange buzzing noise for about 10-15 seconds when I turn the ignition key, and when I try to start her up, she wont start (turns but wont fire).

The manual doesnt mention this sort of problem, and Ive unscrewed and rescrewed each plug three times (to make sure they're screwed in properly), but it still wont start (and buzzes).

The only thing I can think of is that some crap has gotten inside the cylinders - I didnt have any compressed air to clean around the area + there was a fair amount of grit around which I couldnt get to with a cloth. Could grit account for this problem?

If anybody has any ideas, please let me know - wished I hadnt bothered checking them now - was working fine before!

Dunno about the buzzing noise, but have you got the plug caps on in the right order?

yeah, they're numbered, so no problems with that. The buzzing noise appears to be coming from one (or more) of the plugs (would make sense, since the problem only arose when I started messing with them)

Has that bike got a fuel pump?

A bit of a long shot but after I maintained my bike it started to make a buzzing noise. Turned out the pump was dying and today it stopped working altogether.

Could be that.

You could be on to something there. Had to remove the fuel tank to clean the filter + might have forgotton to put it back in the 'ON' position.

However, would this make it buzz when I turned the ignition key on, even before I fired it up? It is a consistent electrical sounding buzz which seems to be coming from one of the plugs on the right hand side, and it does it for about 10 seconds every time I turn it on, then stops. The engine will turn but wont fire.

the bizz could be the fuel pump trying to fill up the carbs (if you fuel is off, it will buzz then give up).

then you could have flooded it, trying to start it. (have you tried push starting it?)

also, have you tested for a spark from the plugs?

The fuel pump will run continually if there is no fuel coming from the fuel tank btw............

I dont think hes flooded it, i think he may have left the fuel tap off.
