After watching a professional boxer scheduled for 6, yes thats right 6, rounds of boxing defeat another unworthy opponent I feel its time that we brought this up again. How can we have world class fighters if they never get a fair fight. Im referring to the bum that Amir Khan just beat on ITV. The guy never had a punch to throw, the more I watch this bullshit the more thoughts I have of Amir Khan or any British up nd coming fighter going against a pro mexican boxer thats not only fighting for glory but fighting because thats his only route to changing his life.

How can these promoters perpetuate this practically pre decided outcome fights to paying spectators time after time and they fucking lap it up! Its ridiculous, the guy who got beat tonight never looked like he was going to fight, then they praise him. I hope to god they are setting khan up for a fall because he neeeeeeds a good fighter if he wants to progress. On reflection its Kahn not Khan but the sentiment is the same, audley harrison, prince naseem and amir kahn - why not a good fight like we used to have benn V eubank?

On its arse. Gruel brittania.

Well thats the way they work somebody like Khan up the ranks to train him, he wont be ready for a title fight for over a year yet and they have to keep him fighting till then.
But you really cant moan about Williams and Skeltons fight?
What a fantastic display by 2 big men and to keep that pace up for 12 rounds was a truly great fight to watch.

I enjoyed the skelton fight, I think the commontators were very against skelton all the way through. He was berated for hitting wiliams in the back of the head, ut that was only whe skelton had him on the ropes and williams threw himself on them. I definately think williams has been lucky there, I would even go so far as to say it was a robbery. The last judge scored it 113 - 116 to williams, what a joke.

Bah, they all sucketh in comparison to Kirkland Laing!

(I know, it's a small tangent but mention of boxing made me recall the awe I felt as I watched him box. Such a shame he never fulfilled his potential Sad)

It would've been good to see Khan against someone who can throw a punch for once, but I get the feeling they're not in a hurry. Far too much easy money in putting him up against these bums to worry about any decent fights yet. Sad

The Skelton/Williams fight was good if a little weird. Although I did think Skelton took the piss a bit at times (didn't realise he was ex-K1 - now it makes sense) I would've said it was his fight with the exception of the last round. If Danny didn't slip then he would've had the knockout (Skelton could barely stand up even with no punches being thrown at him) so in that sense the result was a bit fairer, it was definitely an 8-10 round.

On the whole a much better way to spend a couple of hours than watching the joke that was the Audley Harrison fight. I really hope Harrison has seen the last of his TV time because the guy isn't even a boxer.

Must admit in my time i’ve seen some great fights, I used to like Benn for his heart in the ring, the way Tyson ‘made’ a guy box. Naseems showmanship, Eubanks skill with his class, Holyfields presence etc….
No I don’t bother watching, Williams makes me laugh, lanky twat

Let's look at the records shall we...

Amir Khan - 6 fight's, 6 win's
Opponent #1 - David Bailey - 8 fight's, 3 win's
Opponent #2 - Baz Carey - 28 fight's, 11 win's
Opponent #3 - Steve Gethin - 30 fight's, 9 win's
Opponent #4 - Daniel Thorpe - 68 fight's, 19 win's
Opponent #5 - Vitali Martynov - 12 fight's, 10 win's
Opponent #6 - Jackson Williams - 16 fights, 12 win's

The opposition is getting better as it should, far too many people don't realise that although he's good he still has a learning curve just like EVERYONE else.

Some people seem to want to see him square upto ricky hatton now.

It's not time yet to complain about the quality of Khan's opponents. He needs to learn and make some money on his way up.
The time will come when there is an opponent who will be a worrying test and then we should have a good fight. As long as Frank Warren isn't tempted to hold him back to draw out more cash.

Remember - Calzaghe(spelling?) Vs Jeff Lacey on this saturday/tomorrow night. I believe it is on ITV about 2am.

That is an exciting fight. Calzaghe is powerfull but I saw Lacey's last fight and he looked awesome. Calzaghe will have to find some tricks to get around him. Should be a belter.
