i think the time has come to sit my full bike test. i am 17 and have been riding my 125 since september now and i am pretty confident on the roads.
Hoping to sit the test within the next couple of months !! i am wanting to upgrade

Ok i got a few questions here ,

How much do you think it would be to sit my test??

I am looking to get a 400 not botherd about year etc , how much should i be looking to spend ? i will be using it for every day use and to get back at those bad boy chavs in there crappy nova's Thumbs Up

Insurance? how much ?

ah and finally , i will be wanting to sell my CBR 05 125R .. got a few customized bits on it , and in my opinion i think these make it look nice and tidy , its got a , seat cowl , tinted screen . custom grips and bar ends. Oh and it has almost 5k on the clock .. not too sure how much this will be worth ? how much should i ask for it?

Sorry for going on and on .. but these questions are what is stopping me from getting those damn L plates off!!

It is worthwhile for several reasons:

They will teach you how to pass the test (which is not the same thing as knowing how to ride a motorbike).

They will show you the test routes and where people slip up on them (for example there was an unmarked crossroads on my test route, who has right of way? (A: Nobody does).

They will be able to tell you if you are ready for your test, or how much work they reckon you still need to do.

They will tell you where your technique is weak so you know what you need to practice.

I agree with stinkwheel take some lessons it will benefit you, i didn't take any and developed bad habits which in the end resulted in me taking 5 tests befor i passed.

What about a CBR 400 should be able to find one and they look nice.

In the same position as you! Just waiting to see if a ticket comes through from when a camera flashed me on the 50cc the other day before I do my practical test!

I've done my theory test, and the practical test is £55 and training for it is around £250, depends on how long you want.

I spent £1350 on my Kawasaki ZXR400, 93 model in excellent condition. Personally I wouldn't spend less than £1000 on a 400 from 1990 onwards.

Insurance for a 400 should be around £400-600 at 17, depending on area, NCB and previous claims.

Whilst they don't look as up to date as the 400 supersports bikes, you might find that one of the 500 twins is cheaper to buy, run and insure.

There are several threads on the subject if you do a search for 500 twins.
