That is the safety law.

It's very good advice, but it's not the law. Smile

The original post was a good read and kudos to the Fireblade rider. One day you'll have the chance to return the favour and stop and help - even if it's only to pass on a message for someone.

£40 well spent is AA cover or similar. A must for motorway travel in my opinion.

I just got home safely now and i've calculated a motorway MPG of 38mpg doing 80 in top gear - about 11-12000rpm.

thats crazy!
my vfr400nc30 in top gear does 80-8k rpm 90-9k rpm and same from 40mph to 100 then its gets a lil different but thats 60bhp, so guessing urs is about??? 40ish??

sorry i was just surprized at the rpms u needed to do that speed, from what i heard they're good bikes and can hold they're own with 400 in twisties

good story

I get approximately 35.4 miles per gallon on the ZXR doing a constant 85-90mph @ 13000 rpm. This at least ensures that i get to london (110 miles) safely on one tank with a fair bit left in reserve. Tank range is in the region of 120-130 miles which is around the norm for a small capacity sports bike. I think ZXR400's have pretty low fuel consumptions i believe?

I think the lesson to be learned is to make sure you switch the tap back to normal after filling up, rather than leaving it on reserve.

I get 25mpg combined on my 2t 125 - absolutely shocking. Doesn't the rider being towed normally hook his/her foot under the pillion peg of the towing bike, rather than being pushed by their own peg.

I think i'll invest in one of those "joy pump" things off ebay. If i run out of fuel, and someone stops to help, i'll give them a fiver or so, and pump some of their petrol into my bike.

think about it, if the person being towed were to do that, the peg would just keep folding up. The only easy way to do it is how Titz (nice name btw Laughing !) did it - with the other bike behind him.
