I have a small aquarium, it came as a package, recently the pump stopped pumping as many bubbles.

So I replaced the air stone, put all back together, works, not as well as it used to but works none the less, went to be last night, noticed no bubbles again but the lil pump was working its heart out.

I removed the tubing, air stone etc from water, resubmerged it, = bubbles...

went to sleep zzz zzz woke up... no bubbles..

whats wrong with it?
Only had it 4weeks, its a 'gussie Goldfish deluxe' Is the pump knakade after only 4weeks? am I doing something wrong?

I'm not taking the pump apart so don't ask me to have a look...

any help greatly appreciated, as I'm baffled

attached picture shows bubbles at the back from the top of a dark tube.

Get a new air stone, have you got good filtration in the tank?

Either your airstone is clogged or you need a new rubber diaphragm for the pump

indeed...

I replaced the knackered diaphram in my old one (about 10 years ago) with a bit of cut-up marigold gloves.

The air stone has been replaced(yesterday)

have a had a look in the pump.without taking apart (lifting rubber seal)

and can see a trans wotsit, am I right in thinking htey hold charge and I'm gunna get fried if I touch it?

Living plants are out of q, tank too small really, too much hassel and my fish would eat it too I think.

I've found my receipt and the whole thing is about 5 days past the 28 day returns from 'the range'

Keep the suggestions/theories coming please.

Tank has no filter,

the air being pumped into the dark tube creates circulation of the water, which pulls all the debris down to the bottom, (there is a small grill type thing under the gravel) which gets cleaned every now and again

Also doing partial water changes...

does any one have a small pump for an aquarium I could beg /borrow /buy /steal?
THey sell for a few quid on ebay so If i cant fix mine perhaps this is the next step.

Right
rubber cover off, reveals a magnet a thing that makes the magnet spin , magnet on plastic white arm which is drawn towards and repelled away from spinning magnet, this pulls diaphram up and down, producing a perthetic amount of air...

I took the rubber black cover off the lil white box it sits on and put back into place a little white plate, reassembled attached to tank etc.... even worse than before!

bleh. anyideas?
