No, not from *that* Rolling Eyes.

From too much DIYing actually Confused.
After much use of an electric drill I lost pretty much all power from my right hand on Sunday night.
I've got most of the power back, but I've got lots stuff to do still Confused.

Any suggestions on;
Ways to stop this happening while still using an electric drill?
Ways to help recover after this has happened?
Ways to strengthen my hand/wrist to stop it happening in future.

It's especailly bad on my index finger, which isn't too great for hard braking Confused.

The plan was to get myself into a half decent shape for the race season. A week and a half to go and I'm in pretty terrible condition now Confused.

Sounds like something to do with the vibrations. I have had that happen to me before when using a hammer drill or orbital sander for long periods.

Wrapping some damping foam or rubber around the grip might help... but once it happens you just need to rest really.

wearing soft or padded gloves may help but like marjay says you just have to rest it....i do some hedgelaying sometimes and my right hand shakes for hours afterwards because i'm using a chainsaw and axe etc all day. Things like chainsaws and jackhammers can cause a condition called vibration white finger where you lose the feeling in your fingers and they go white(pretty self explanatory really) it can cause your whole hand to go like that in bad cases but i think thats possibly something to do with your circulation...

I was going to say, it sounds like circulation to your hand has been cut off slightly.

It sounds pretty standard, I can remember it happening to me on many occasions when I was helping build our extension. Digging the foundations for one. Rolling Eyes

Try flexing your fist a lot, get the circulation running nice and strong. Is the hand cold as well as weak?

I was wearing slightly padded gloves.
The vibrations aren't really too bad, especially using my fancy screwfix screws that drive pretty easily.
I've had the same thing after paintballing before as well.

I think it's more the tendons, though not an expert on such things, of course.

Hand isn't particularly cold.

Cheers for the thoughts.
