my CD drive broke on my laptop but was covered under warrentee/insurance at college and got a new one put in.

It works fine as i used it but it doesnt regester unless you press it as soon as you turn the laptop on.

I took it to PC guy at college and said somthing about needing it to be flush when i push it in but it is but still not regesting.

Im 99% i need to regestor/install device again and ill be fine, any way of doing this?

Sounds like a dodgy fit mate, I'd take it back. btw what make is it? Hew is it held in, if its a screw you may just need to slacken the screw and shove it in a bit further and retighten the screw.

its Toshiba, we didnt get a choice which one to have and is a POS, about 60% of them have broken, i looks after mine and in 1.5 years been wiped 3 times (more a interenet problem not the laptop) New hardrive, CDdrive.

Im going to get them to do the work as it covered so dont want to risk breaking it.

yeah sounds like a dodgy fit or the wrong model of drive has been installed but doesnt fit quite right.

used to be a service engineer for tosh systems and i always had a good opinion of them. certainly get it looked at again especially as its under warranty.

Ok my statement was a bit unfair, what i should said was they were overpriced (was though school with other charges they put on hense expensive) and wrong model for 16-19year old to be lugging around at college and getting knocked, the Dell think pads with all the rebustnest would have been better as so many have broke.

Going to take it in tomorrow Thumbs Up
