people attach big heavy punch bags to joists in the celing, so apole would be no problem

if a joist is strong enough to support the floor above, its strong enough to attach a pole to

just tap on the ceiling to find where the joists are

I wouldn't attach a heavy punchbag to a ceiling joist, it would eventually fuck the entire ceiling with all the banging and vibration. Nevermind the neighbours feeling every punch shake through thier house.

A pole might be ok but it would always be in the way in a lounge.
You may as well install a pole that runs through both floors like a firemans pole....just for fun. An old bit of scaffolding should do it. Scrape off the bits of cement first and bobs your uncle.

Anyway, enough of the practicalities. Where are these pics then?
