I've got an Infra red port on my laptop and all the laptops I've owned thing is though I've never actually used it , anybody care to elaborate on any uses this port can have or any software that might make it useful?

If you have in Infra Red port on your mobile phone then you can turn the infra red on for both of them and send contact's across, many people use them to connect laptops to the internet although bluetooth is better for that as your phones got to be pretty close to it.

Can also connect PDA's to your laptop using it too.

I have one on my laptop and use it all the time.

You can connect your phone through it, download contacts, mess with the phone settings, send and download messages, basically use your phone on your PC.

Very handy.

Yeah the only purpose my laptops infrared port serves, is for sending and receiving shit to my mobile phone.

Find some software, that can be used on some fones, that allows you to use the Infrared as a TV remote Wink

bugger i was just about to say that Method

you'll need a program callede IRremote, i thinks it's only for series 60 phones though, 6600, N-gage, etc.
