Saw this on 125cc sportsbikes, bit of a shame, perhaps a fault with his bike, putting a 500cc engine in a 125 frame is going to cuase stress and surely lead to fractures?

even so no one deserves to die at 17
RIP Sad

It's the trees fault. Let's go cutting down all the trees, I'll go grab my axe.

so is every little bit of loose gravel shipping, bit of wildlife that stands in the road, other drivers...

lets go on a killing spree..

I believe he as riding home from the rideout, so not technically on a rideout anymore

Oh dear not another biker, what’s the matter with us lot lately?

Dam shame, such a young rider.

What’s this about a 500 engine in a 125 frame? Confused

he took the engine out of his Derbi Senda 50'cc and replaced it with a CR500 engine, I belive the frame had cracked prior to his ride. So had the mounts. I wil post more details once they become avalible.

Damn, RIP.

Just been reading the thread on 125ccsb and someone mentioned that something had broken on the bike the other week, and he was going to leave it a while before repairing it. Wonder if that was a contributing factor to the accident? Still dont think it was a good idea putting a 500 lump in a frame designed for a 50 though.

A 500 lump in a 50 frame is just asking for trouble.

I wonder if he even bothered changing the wheels and suspension at all.

Maybe not, but I would of thought anyone would know that a Senda with a CR500 lump wouldn't look or sound right.

would you tell your parents if your bike had cracks in its frame ? i hope you wouldnt ride it either tho

vibration tends to make cracks grow if you dont drill a hole at either end of the crack. I found this out when i continued to ride a bike with cracked fairings. The cracks grew. I had no excuses as I have learnt about crack propagation at uni. Not really a big problem in fairings but in a frame its probably just a question of time.

I was in a similar position at 16 when I owned a derbi GPR50. Being into motocross bikes and owning a couple I investigated the possibility of shoehorning a 250 engine into the little frame, and it certainly was cheap easy and appealing. However, looking at the puny frame and strengthening bars I decided it was downright dangerous, and never pursued it although toyed with the idea the whole time I owned it. So glad I gave up on that Shocked

Rip.

Indeed but if it sounded more meaty he'd tell his rents he'd got a new pipe for it,

No use stewing over it, was a stupid thing to do as far as I can see and even more stupid to ride it after it had already shown fault, he still did not deserve the end result

A lot of people on another forum tried desperatly to get him off the road, including one police issue which I'll say no more about, unfortunately spike chose to ignore everyone and rode it anyway...

Despite that he seemed a good enough guy, he was enthusiastic about his project , just went about it the wrong way. Seemed a nice kid, just had a lot to learn but shame hes not around to learn any more Sad

he was quite popular, both good and bad, people liked talking to him and arguing and he was just generally a character on the forum that will be sorely missed Sad

RIP, still unknown whether the bike was a contributing factor to the accident, but really the thing was a death trap. Still terrible news though.
