Right, Ok my RS hasn't had much attention recently, just using it to get around on, but I feel it deserves to get cleaned up, and now I have a little scooter to commute with, I can use it for weekend rides etc .

Anyway, currently it's a 2000 McWilliams GP rep, Which looks good, but it's got quite a few stickers covering scratches, and those stickers are also scratched! , as well as gouges in the panel where the previous owner slid it at a slow speed.

So I think it's respray time , And I didn't really want to fork out £400-£500 for a professional respray, so I decided to give it a bash myself on a spare side fairings....and it looks good , Well I think so, Here's the pictures:

2 coats of white, and then fine line tape for the shape:

https://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s20200236pa.jpg

After the 2nd coat of black and white paint:

https://img206.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s20200377aw.jpg

Masked up, ready for the highlighting colour:

https://img206.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s20200384rw.jpg

First layer of the Turquoise:

https://img213.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s20200396uq.jpg

2nd Layer of Turquoise:

Final Panel:

https://img230.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc044584tc.jpg

I'll post some pictures soon of the front caliper I'm polishing to a mirror finish, I'll also be doing the fork legs, yoke, rear caliper, rear caliper hanger, and other bits and bobs.

What do you reccon on the colour scheme? Black, White and turquoise?

Here's what I'm hoping for it to look like (ignore the green, that's when I was planning to do it that scheme, but couldn't find any suitable colours.

Well, Ive sprayed some barends on my old GPR....but...

I sanded them by scraping them along the tarmac in my drive, then unloaded about a can of spray on them, holding it in one position, and one coat, then slapping them on my bike about 5 minutes later, and letting them dry outside on a windy day...

Didn't turn out that great, but I read up a lot on spraying fairings before I started this, and took as much time as I could to make sure it looks good, and I must say it paid off!

Thanks for the comments

Thanks everyone for the good comments, I might get a pro to do the lacquering, dependant on how much that'll cost of course.

So far I've sprayed my Solo-seat With 2x Primer, 2x White, 2x Turqouise, and just have the black to go until that's finished, I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

I've also sanded, primered (x2) and sprayed my mirrors gloss black (x2).

And, unintentionally they have a metal-flake like effect from the overspray of the turquioise, it looks really neat though, I'll get some pictures up of them too ASAP.

I've also marked out where I want the colours etc on my bike atm, so i'm riding round with writiing and fineline tape on my bike tongue.gif

here's a quick piccie, Terrible picture, but shows what it's like at the moment Razz, Soon it'll all be finished - once my panels are sorted.

PANELS:

Bad picture of the solo seat ( I need to remember to focus Razz )

Picture of the fairing and solo seat:

(for some reason teh turquoise looks like it runs when it gets a photo taken?!!?!?! :S

Mirror:

Turquoise being put on the rear seat:

At the moment my bike's riding round with no side fairings and the fairings that are fitted are very loose!!! Razz Next week I'll be getting the tank and front fairing sorted, aswell as finishing the rest of the fairings, it should look brilliant when I'm done, and i'll get loads of high-res pics to show off too!!! Smile

What masking tape did you use? I'm struggling to find stuff that will leave a nice edge, all i can find is shit paper tape which leaves a fluffy edge.

Jack, if you're looking at getting a good edge, then use some stuff called Fine Line Tape:

(look at the mudguard for an example)

https://www.akiraprise.com/image/view.php?id=../rs125/Quick%20Glance%20at%20the%20Painted%20Panels%20002.JPG

And then use the masking tape on top of this.

That's it so far, still got the Tank, Y-pieces, front and rear mudguard and bellypan to do.

Bellypan will be the Turquoise colour.

Mudguard will be Turqouise, White stripe in the middle (Marked by fine line...), and black outline to this.

Rear Mudguard will probably be the same with sponsor stickers in the white.

Y-Pieces I just want to buy a set of mint black gloss ones, Any sellers?

Thanks, what's all your opinions???!?!?

For other pictures of the bike: https://www.akiraprise.com/index.php?page=rs125

^^ Will take an eternity to load....

looks very nice, would be even better if you painted the spokes the turquoise color and polished the lip.
