It’s been bugging me for a while now, I didn’t know why it irritated me so much but now I know.
What is it with people and work?

Let me explain, for example…..
Say you don’t see one of your mates all that much, you find out later that the reason is because they have been working all the time. Fair enough.
But after talking to them I seem to be left feeling like I should work more or something, they constantly blab on about how many hours they’ve done, how shit it is and how they haven’t got time for anyone or anything now.
To top it all off though, they sit there, talking about it with a big grin on their face!
WTF?
Yeah, I’m proud I have some form of work but as soon as I finish and hit the pub or people come and chill at mine its, drinking, Xbox, Ganja, bikes, anything, you know what I mean, leisure activities.
No talk of work, unless it’s something really important like a pay rise or redundancy.

I might be on my own here but I really don’t see the point in talking to someone about how much time they haven’t got for you and how I’m lucky to only work a 40 hour week.

Totally agree with you.

I have a life, I like to live it.
If you spend all your time working and not living what's the point of earning all that money? Pointless.

Besides, if you can't do your job within the normal hours, then I wonder whether you are doing it right?

With the exception of apprentices, because they don’t get paid enough at first, my thoughts on work are “If you don’t earn enough if your day job, you’re in the wrong job”

There might be special cases where you NEED to have two for something but why do that forever, might as well use your time to educate and build yourself up in your field.
A friend of a friend down the pub the other night sat there with his big grin explaining how tough his 4 jobs are.
4 jobs, good for you, maybe you could do mine?

It's all about work life balance for me, I work to live some live to work. Some of the lads that I work with here love MS Technet roadshows, conferences, etc, whereas if I have to go I will, but if I don't believe it enhances my skill set and it over runs my core working hours then I'm not interested. We all still get paid the same money and do the same jobs, some of us just work to live as I said.

One of my work hates is, as I work in IT, people who I work with automatically think I must love computers and do nothing but sit in front of a monitor morning noon and night, and have no other life than this!

ITS MY FU**ING JOB FOR GOD SAKE!

I hate computers, they are a pain in the arse, and for me, its a 9 - 5 job. Soon as I finish work, that's it, no more talk of pc's. Yet whenever we have a staff do or a few beers after work, I always get someone come up and try taking computers to me. Then they look supprised when I tell them I'm not interested. I then proceed to ask them if they talk about mechanical engineering and stuff in their spare time! The answer is alway's no. Laughing

I do this job for the money and the hours, nothing else. Wink Thumbs Up
