I have a laptop.

What I want to do is..

Connect a flat screen monitor to it and a separate keyboard and mouse, can I then set the laptop to be on, but have the lid closed and under my desk but still have all the information coming through the flat screen?

I want to do this cause im sick of the laptop getting tea and stuff spilled on it and it will give me more desk room.

Cheers for any information Thumbs Up

Course you can.

Connect the monitor up as you would normally, and just close the lid. The picture on the monitor doesn't disappear.

You might have to change your advanced power settings to allow you to close the lid without the laptop hibernating or going into standby.

Right click on the desktop>
properties>
screen saver tab>
monitor power>
advanced tab.

Change the setting for what you want to happen when you close the lid to "do nothing".

It also depends on whether your laptop has a monitor, keyboard and mouse output. No laptops I've ever used have had PS2 outputs, so I had to get USB versions of keyboards and mice.

My Laptop has got all the connections for mouse keyboard and a monitor. Ill just need to adjust the settings to stop it from closing down when I close the lid.
