Nar, Hondar do nar meck thee CBR400 anymore. Ewe may find a nice example of a 1998 one.

In english, the CBR400's are all imports and were never made in the UK. They are not made any more, but there are plenty of good examples out there.

Age isnt an issue with the 400's. Mine is 12 years old and is wonderful.

Last updated version was the Gullarm, back around 1991/1992. There have been colour variations since then, up to around 1996 I think - all models thereafter are still the same design, just registered in the UK at a later date.

You wont find any new 400's around any more.

Why not try the Kawasaki ER5 (Or ER6 if you want brand new)

Ash's right, no new models - yet.

Honda have made an updated version of the CB400 though - in a similar guise to the CB1300 with a half fairing and Vtec.

There are also known examples of SV400s (might as well go for the 650 UK Bike) and Fazer 400 (ditto) knocking around. I can't really see the point of opting for a sports-touring 400 though, for me, that seems to defeat the point of opting for the pocket rockets.

Suzuki did make an RF400, which wasn't that great, Kawasaki made a ZZR400, again, not spectacular. Unfaired examples may make better sports-touring packages than these kind of bikes and are more closely matched to their sports-rep brethren. Hondas CB1 is a fantastic little bike, as is their Superfour. There are a couple of example of Suzuki Bandit to go for (don't get me started), as well as Yamaha's XJR400 (a real looker) and also a mini- Kawasaki ZRX. At the very end of the scale you have the Bros400s - good for just over the tonne, but under powered in comparison with the multis - fantastic reliability though.

(There may be a couple of other examples that I've missed, but I guess those are the basics.)

I'm pretty sure you can still get new ER-5s, they have a full stainless exhaust these days too which is handy.
