Looking at a few bikes and soncisdering their resale value. A 2001 NSR 125 for £700 (20k on the clocks not seen pictures but taxed and tested) and a 2003 NSR 125 for £875 (needs and exhaust and panels with 17k on the clocks)
While most NSRs of this age seem to have done less than 10k, I understand that that could be 10k ragging the bollocks off the it or 20k letting it warm up and spoon feeding it oil.
Anyways, while I don't intend to buy either bike, does this kind of mileage call for these prices?

To be honest as long as its been serviced and looked after, i would have no worries about a high milage bike.
After all they are meant to be used

i guess it goes on the idea that there's a rough amount of miles X bike will do before it needs an engine rebuild. so having high miles on it means less miles for next person.
still those are pretty damn cheap NSR's

2 Strokes can get expensive at high mileages needing cranks re-doing etc. Although I would rather buy a well looked after high mileage bike than an abused low mileage one.

they should be due for a rebuild.
if one has had one, its worth at lest £300 more than the other

Providing it was done by a reputable shop. If the owner had done it themselves i would probably prefer the untouched bike.

nsr's should have rebuilds after every 14,000km.

If the owners say they ant rebuilt it then its a sign of a carfule owner or a lucky one!!!

depends on how honest the seller is , I love telling people this story, there was this GT550 in a breakers yard only needed new discs new battery and new seat and poss new tank.

I looked at it and saw it only had 34K on the clock , the bloke said nah , and took me into his office he opened up 2 video clips , one showed it going from 99,998 to 00000 , and it happening again with a date stamp a a couple years later.

Keith (not Kick start keith but another loves telling me a similar story with a GT550 and 3 sets of clocks).
