It seems they were stolen from a Stand, not just the bikepark/camping area

both were on the Thumper Club stand. They were in front of the marquee, where one of the guys was sleeping - literally four feet away from the bikes, on the other side of a clear plastic window. It was understood that the display area would be locked down tight at 10pm, the gates would be locked and the perimeter patrolled, and you needed a wristband and vehicle permit to get into the place - so the bikes weren't chained up - just on steering locks.

The Thumper Club retired at around 1am, one of the members got up at 5:30 to go to the loo, to find the bikes missing.

it was reported to the police and followed by a visit to the security
control to report it there too - where they were told by a security
bod that apparently not all of the gates were locked as they should
have been. There is no proof of that, though - they were locked when they went to check them a few minutes later. Security was stretched to the limit because there were loads of incidents of stock theft from the trader's tents, so it seems the perimeter security wasn't given as much attention as it should have been.
