I picked up a clutch cover at BMF for stupidly cheap. I'm going to cut out a hole and make a window to see all the spinny stuff.

But, what do I use for the window? It has to put up with ducati vibs, UK potholes, oil and heat.

I know a few people who have got windows/screens for their cars from this place, they might be able to make up something pretty cool. Anyway, I pasted the info on the plastics they have. Oh and...Razz

https://www.plastics4performance.co.uk/faq.asp

PLEXIGLAS (Perspex) is the most common material used. It is approximately three times stronger than glass of the same thickness and it has an easy to maintain surface. This surface allows minor scratches to polish out, but it can suffer from stress cracking, especially when it is mechanically fixed to the car. IDEAL FOR HILLCLIMB, SPRINT OR TRACKDAY CARS WHERE CONTACT IS MINIMAL

FLEXI-GLASS is our very own specification high impact acrylic sheet designed for motorsports. A cross between Perspex and Polycarbonate it gives you approx seventy five times the impact strength of standard Perspex. It is more scratch resistant than standard polycarbonate and it is tough, weather resistant and UV protected, which means it will give exceptional service as a replacement window. OUR PREFERED CHOICE FOR CIRCUIT RACING, RALLY, RALLY CROSS ETC.

PETG is a new material, which is again, extremely tough with superb optical properties and very resistant to chemical attack. It is primarily used when the need for Thermoform screens arises. We have this material colour matched to our polycarbonate.

POLYCARBONATE The toughest of materials is almost impossible to break under normal conditions. It is 250+ more impact resistant than glass; however its one fault lies in its relatively soft surface and inability to allow scratches to be polished out.IDEAL FOR ROUGH USAGE SUCH AS FOREST RALLY OR RALLY CROSS CARS.

You've got a lathe I take it to make the housing to fit the window because trying to fit one direct to the actual engine casing is not a good idea.P lenty have tried and made a real balls up of it trying to get everything to look right and more importantly seal right as you haven' got a flat surface to work on. I'm just in the middle of doing one myself but its a housing one that will sit proud of the cover, you also have to have the housing ally welded to the casing to make it leakproof.
I'm waffling on because I can't remember for the life of me the name of the perspex stuff that's highly recommended to use Mr. Green When I remember I'll let you know Confused

PS it wasn't any of the above

The ducati one already has threads in the casing for sound deading plates/rubber. So my idea is to use that. I got the case in mint condition for £20 so not fussed if I balls it up.

Bezzer I'll rate you useful when you remember Razz

Isn't the monster a dry clutch, hence it won't matter that much if it doesn't seal?

I remembered Idea it's Makrolon, bit stronger than Lexan but didn't click about it being a dry clutch so really either will do as they're both bulletproof type stuff, Makrolon was a bit better for oil resistance as well.

No, but yes.

600's and 750's are wet clutches. The rest are dry... FOOL! Mr. Green

*Edit*

Just bought some POLYCARBONATE SHEET (lexan) 5mm thick and A3 size for £9 posted. Should hopefully get some pictures up soon of my creation Thumbs Up

mate i dont sorry but it was milled down to fit but also had a lip of about 20mm that was still inside for the glue for memery it was
8mm thick lexen but the clutch cover was only 4mm thick so it was milled down to fit flush with the face of the cover and was over hanging on the inside good luck with it you now you can allways cut the face out of your cover and leave a 10mm ring of the face there and fix the lexen to the face the billet ones they make for tls/tlr are made like this

Too true, I ended up making a template first, mounted the cover to a piece of thick plywood then experimented trying to get dead centre, it took a while to get it spot on. When I got it put a spindle in the template centre hole so I could then spin the whole lot in a lathe to cut the hole true.
