|
|
I'm currently experimenting with the feasabilty of rebuilding some Ignition pulsers
which are NLA new.
see here: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=329508
Making the bobbins from gasket paper and heat shrink
is a bit fiddly and the thought that its an ideal 3d printer job has crossed my mind
many times.
My local hack space who have a 3D printer were no fucking help at all even though
I mentioned I didnt expect them for free as was happy to bung them some dosh in exchange
Its not a complex or long winded process after all is it?
I only want say 8 of them for test and experiments
The overall dimensions are 20mm x 16mm and 11mm high with a 7x2mm slot
I can provide better specs of course if someone fancies having a go
I know ABS doesn't have a particularly high melting point but once assembled and potted
this shouldn't be an issue.
Anyone interested? ____________________ bikers smell of wee |

I could print them but I'd turn them from delrin a lot quicker. That's what I made my contactor coil bobbin from.
EDIT: Ah, I see they are square-edged. Printing job then. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Its trap!!
It must be!
Are you telling me Pete immediately understood the concept and its simplicity
and with a brief glance at the pic and dimensions knocked one out on a 3D printer
without 3d scanning/solidworks/stl files an all that shit?
Impossibru!
Looks great Pete
one question, how would PLA cope in the rear of an engine
compared to ABS ?
I expect worst case working temps to be in the 90C range on a hot day with heavy use
and figured to pot them in JB weld which would tolerate this and not turn to snot.
Higher temperatures would mean I have other problems.
I'll pm you ____________________ bikers smell of wee |
