Its pretty much a 250cc ER-6 with the word Ninja slapped on it.

Kawasaki 'ninja' or 'concours' everything they sell in the USA. The ER-6 is a Ninja there if I am not mistaken. It sounds like all road oriented aerodynamic bikes are Ninjas while the bulkier touring bikes are Concours, regardless of sporting credentials.

What the hell is the point of having to do a full licence to get something weaker than an Rs/Mito?

Because you can't regally ride a full power RS/Mito on an A2 license anyway.

Plus i think this bike is a bit more suited to everyday riding/commuting than a 'balls out' 125 smoker.

Interesting. Looks nice. I'd say its based pretty firmly on the GPZ500. Might be a canny bit of market positioning making it under 33BHP. i think it will sell, as has been said, if they price it keenly. Wonder how it will perform compared to a GPZ500. Its 20kg lighter.

Because their power/weight ratio exceeds what the law states you can ride on a restricted license.

You'll realise when your old enough Razz Rolling Eyes ....

.....if they haven't banned bikes by then!

I agree with grove. It WILL not hold a candle to the ZXR250 - i think me and groove are amongst the select few to be graced by its presence which was absolutely phenomenal. I can't imagine this bike being anywhere close - prolly get really really disappointed by it big time!

Had a perch on one at the NEC show, the riding position is more commuter than sports but relatively comfy, but feels weird when you try to tuck in behind the screen. It feels slightly smaller than my 30 but compared to something like a CBR125 it feels huge. Theres a few niggles i dont like about it such as the mirror stalk mounted indicators and skinny tyres. But should fill a gap in the market.

Hmm I'm interested. Lower insurance and I rarely go above 90 (oh I mean never "honest guv") I just want to know how it will compare to the GPZ500. I dont "need" a big bike. I dont do that high a mileage.

Smaller GPZ engine with catalyst would suit me fine. Looking forwars to trying one. When are they here?

Hyosung GT250 could be worth a look, although i suspect heavier and less powerful? Looks better IMO.

Saw & sat on it at the bike show, comfy and quite a natural riding position. I'm hoping to get one in april when it comes out as im taking my A2 in march. Was originally looking at 400's but for £3k brand new, can't go wrong!

Jack Thumbs Up

I think I'd prefer the Hyosung 250 ... It can crack 110Mph easily and can cruise at 80-90 if you really want to ...

Here's a 250:

These are also under £3k, usually about £2700 or £2800

I'm not sure about the hyosungs, I have asked owners and apparently they don't stand up to rain and british weather well.

I think they look stunning but i just can't trust them, it bugs me Evil or Very Mad

Pre 05 Hyo's weren't great bu bikes after then have gotten better and are still doing so ...

I'd still contemplate having one if I didn't have the Fazer, which is also one fantastic bike!
