Okay everyone, I picked my bike up today, a YZF750R in Virgin mobile colours unfortunately it has been raining most of the day so I havent had chance to get over 90 yet.
Anyway I am happy now and so is M as she has inherited (bought) my NC30.

Heres the pics.....

Hi

Nice bike. Fancied one myself to be honest

The engine is bascically the same as the old FZ750. They last forever. The valves need doing once in a blue moon (but rarely get done  ). If you overtighten the chain you will wreck the bearing behind the front sprocket and that needs a complete engine rebuild to fix.

Oh, and if you get bored I think the Thunderace engine should fit in fairly easy (basically the Thumderace used the FZR1000 EXUP engine in the YZF750 frame).

Keep an eye on the finish. Yamaha finish can be a bit dodgy, but dont know about the YZF

All the best

Keith

Cheers for the advice Keith.

I will keep an eye on the finish as you say but so far it seems to have faired quite well (it is a 1994 bike). The bike has had a recent respray but there is no evidence of any crash damage.

The bike has also come with some history including a dyno graph of the bike with standard can and K&N filter showing 108.7bhp (carried out march 2002) at the wheel which is plenty for me even if it is probably what a new R6 would put out.

I'd assume the finish can't be too different the '95 FZR600 which my sister has and that's lasted superbly considering the bike is kept outside.

Hope it stays good. I still have an FZ750 from 1985/6 (cannot remember which) which is now up to 64500 miles. The gearbox seems better than the Bandit still. Only real problem is the seat (rejected by the Spanish Inquisition as being too cruel) and the vibration (lots of high frequency vibes at 5000rpm, which happens to be 70 in top gear). 85 is nice and comfy on it. The engine smooths out as the revs rise. Riding mine once I wondered why it had stopped accelerating (didnt think I was going that fast). Looked at the speedo and noticed it was doing 135 (ooops), then looked at the rev counter and found it was bouncing off the rev limiter, about 1000rpm into the red (mmm, another gear or 2 still to go). At those revs it was really smooth.

All the best

Keith

Yeah I do need a fogcity visor insert jobby, although for some reason my dark tinted visor never fogs up Confused but it isn't too clever using that at night is it.

[off topic] The theiving c*nts that nicked Deans wallet etc at BdB seem to have been doing the same at other bike events too, I have just read the backend BMF in performance bikes and loads of ppl were robbed during the night while they slept Sad [/off topic]
btw: anyone with an NC30/NC35 there is a couple of pages on tuning in this months PB.
