Finally think I might have a touring screen for the ER-6F:

https://pyramid-plastics.co.uk/collections/kawasaki/products/kawasaki-er-6f-touring-screen-light-smoke-2009-2011

Twice already I have tried and twice I have already failed. First time I bought the wrong thing, second time they actually couldn't get the item anymore but it was still listed on their site.

I appear to have bought a copy of "Economics for Dummies"
(seemed like a good idea at the time Rolling Eyes )

And a packet of 12 boxes of nag champa incense.
I know, I know.
I just ... needed it.

I bought a brand new bicycle for my father. It's the PELLS Crono Pro, with Shimano Alivio group set (3x9), hydraulic brakes, 700c wheels,... just 13,2 Kg. He seems happy with it. Thumbs Up

I used to be a Tamiya fan boy until I discovered how bad the value really is.
For what you paid for that, you will get something that totally outperforms it from the likes of WL Toys.

That's not what Tamiya is about though. It's about the build more than the performance of the RC model at the end of it. I've got an Associated SC10 that cost a little bit more than this, it was ready to run, it has brushless power and it blows away everything else I've ever driven at 1/10 scale, even as a 2WD short course truck vs other more specialised models But it doesn't interest me in the way the Tamiya kits do.

Sure I could buy some WL Toys crap, and I only know they are OK from reviews but I don't want a spaceship to bash on a skate park, I want a model kit to build and maybe run around the garden occasionally. The performance of a WLToys 124019 is great, you can get the odd part if it breaks, but I don't like the look or the way it's put together. The gearboxes are variable in quality and by the time I order it from BangGood and have to pay import tax they aren't that much cheaper than a lot of Tamiya kits.

I mean... If you really want quality you'd pay for Kyosho. If you want to race you'd go Associated or Schumacher. If you want to bash you'd go Traxxas or WLToys... I want something that could exist as a real vehicle, something that does hold memories from childhood, and something I can enjoy building. That's why I got the Wild One.

Notice I didn't pay the £100 premium for the Blockhead wild one, which is basically identical apart from some silver parts and different decals...

I just like it, so I bought it and I will wear it sometimes.

When I watched my uncle carry his 1 year old daughter in a tiny white coffin up the aisle in the crematorium, I realised that life is extremely short, fragile and precious. I stopped caring what people thought of me and decided to just live life how I want to since its' the one and only one I will ever have.

I fully embrace my degeneracy and hobbies now, at the end of the day I am not going to be on my deathbed thinking "oh how I wish people didn't make fun of me for liking that", I will be thinking that I wish I had done more, seen more, experienced more, spent more time doing the things I love and make me happy.

Plus some nice lime wood blanks.

I'm teaching myself how to carve - it's surprisingly fun and nowhere near as hard as I thought it was going to be. Very Happy

Yeah man, fantastic pairing - definitely two sides of the same coin. Enjoy!

One without the other is not as good. Forever War is definitely the superior of the two, but it puts the Heinlein work into a stark context. Thumbs Up

An antique fid. I have a modern steel set for making ropes but I wanted a big wooden one for making high impact rope work, fenders and fists for largish boats. Modern decent wood ones are stupid money because all the work that has to go into one preparing the surface or it damages and grips the rope. One of the cases where cheap really isn't cheerful.

For those who haven't got a clue what I am talking about, this is a fid.

If you were making one you'd probably want to go with something really hard like lignum vitae or say, mesquite. Smile It's no wonder they go with steel these days.

The Frog is an absolute legend. It won racing championships in Japan in the 80s. The Stadium Blitzer is also quite soughtafter these days I think.

I also have one of the original 100 from when I was a kid... I restored it last Winter:

https://www.bikechatforums.com/files/gtfourresto_small.jpg

I also just pre-ordered a Tamiya Renault Alpine A110 - My uncle had a full scale one when I was a kid, and he stored it for a time in our garage when his house flooded. I used to sit in there and just stare at it.
