Sorry, I'm with Kris on this one, I think it is illegal, think they can do you for driving without due care and attention. Speakers on a Goldwing are fine like in cars because they don't totally drown out sounds around you, whereas headphones are right in your ear and do.

I dont think that its illegal in itself but if you were in an accident and it was proved that the lack of hearing was a contributing factor then you could probably be done for due care.

tried it once, wasnt very good

there is no middle ground, its either drown everything out with music, or have the music completely drowned out by a flat out screaming 2 stroke

so go without

if you are that desperate to listen to music, you shouldnt really be riding a bike

sing to yourself like i do :P

can you imagine getting pulled over in a car for either listening to your walkman or chatting on the phone (with hands freed kit of course). Don't see how it can be illegal.

its not illegal, i do it all the time, i evan had them in when i got pulled last month the coppa just waited patiently untill i took them out.

also as for drowning out the sound, the average car sterio is capable of putting out +1DB which is more than enough to drown out all noise:)

any way you try riding 70 miles along the m27 followed by the a3 in i very very very boring straight line with nouthing to listen to accept the constant screaming of a little stoker engine, every time i go to box hil ive got my plugs in Smile

also for about £50 you can get your helmet sent off to have the same conversion as the police have, a company cuts two holes in the padding next to your ears and inserts two speakers with a jake plug fitted two the bottom rim of your lid which plugs in two your cd playa etc Smile

TWO magazine are doing a 'collect the tokens' offer to get a mini radio with 'Virgin Bikes' on it. I think they made references to using it when your riding so its probably not illegal, othwise they'd be responsible for encouraging it.

But then again they encourage wheelies and burn outs as well, so......?

I doubt youd get pulled for it, but in a crash its probably just another thing for them to bollock you for.

Spoke to my local dealer (bike dealer that is gents Smile ) he says its totaly legal through he recommends only having one ear in at a time.

Ive tried riding with them in at high speed, the diffrent type of musics effect your driving drasticly! aggresive rock like say apap roach or linkin park/ disturbed make you highly agresive driving! you take chances aim for gaps but hell the adrenaline rush is insane! papa roach "last resort" is NOT recommended Smile

through you could just listen to garage music but then id have to kill you anyway Smile
