Nice insurance assessor came round to look at the Jag today and promptly wrote it off. Said the electric tailgate was stupidly expensive even before getting it colour matched. Both rear wings damaged and that's before digging any deeper for bottom panels or structural.

So now the fun starts. Awaiting a phone call from direct line about my options though can't see there are too many.

Pissed off because the Jag was a retirement present to myself and I intended to keep it until I gave up driving but hey ho, best laid plans of mice and men........

I might have posted this one already because it’s happened before, but arse-hole driver jumps out of a stationary queue on a long slip road to the off-ramp (without indicating) back into the motorway stream, drives a few hundred yards and STOPS to squeeze back in further up the queue. So now Lane 1 is queuing for the slip road, Lane 2 is suddenly blocked by said arse-hole with traffic approaching fast behind and everyone diving for ‘safety’ in Lane 3. There are no cameras to catch this kind of behaviour, which I find particularly galling having just been done for a relatively harmless 85 on the M25 at 1am on a Monday morning.

It's that time of the month where I pay off all the monthly bills; I avoid direct debits wherever possible. I used to fill slightly smug that my only credit card debt is now on a zero interest balance transfer card (thanks, Martin Lewis!) And then it dawned on me...

Why don't I just pay the minimum and stick what I would have paid in a high interest account or an ISA and pay it off in one lump at the end?

I've just had to dig glass out the the pads on my dog and she's still limping. A visit to the vets to check there is nothing still in there is in order.

Why can't people describe the measurements of bolts properly when they sell them.

I needed an M10 one with a long plain section and short threaded section because it essentially acts as a pivot for my saddle mounting. Checked in the description and it said it had a 60mm threaded section. I needed a 60mm plain section so ordered a 120mm high tensile bolt with the intention of cutting it down to length.

Arrived and it had a 30mm threaded section. This happens every fucking time I need to do this. What's wrong with just posting the measurement of the fucking bolt properly? It's not unique to one seller or platform either. I can't ermember ever buying a bolt with a plain section that was correctly described.

As I needed to fit it so i can ride the bike tomorrow, I set about cutting more thread on it. At least the claim to be high tensile was true. My arms now hurt, My M10 x 1.5 die is now blunt and I need a new die holder because one of the pins snapped. Turned it into an expensive job!

I was going to go to the Warr's 100th anniversary in Fulham (even though I would have been on the Suzuki ) AND THEN I was gonna go to Diamond Day at the Ace Caff.
But fuck that, it was too rainy.

So I stayed in and re-potted all my orchids

I have no issues about being a fair weather biker these days.
I've done enouh miles in the rain in the past, no need to prove I'm 'ard.

Shame about Warrs though.

I was also supposed to be driving down tomorrow to [somewhere in the west country], I forget where) as my mate was planning to ride his bike somewhere and leave it down there for some reason I have also forgotten - but he cried off due to the rain as well.

I suppose if its less prone to rain tomorrow he might change his mind but he'll have to come and get me in the car if he does.

The weather grinds me gears today. 39.5°C on my cycle computer, 34°C according to the weather app on my phone and I had to go through the city traffic, because for whatever reason the cycle path that I usually use was closed by the police. Now I'm sitting in my 28°C flat.
