Smart, professional and clean will show that you're taking it seriously.

Casual clothes will show that you're taking it easy with a relaxed casual approach.

You're not going to be judged on what you're wearing however inferences will be made so it's entirely your choice what impression you want to make.

So wear a suit (that fits!) with a collared shirt and a tie.

Has your solicitor told you to bring a bag?

Look in the mirror and ask yourself: concerned citizen or violent thug?

Bring tabacco and skins, even if you don't smoke.

I don't own a suit as I hate them but I'm stepping my game up next time by wearing a plain neutral coloured tie with the pressed white shirt and slacks/chinos instead of cargo pants and I'm buying a stylish "business like" 3/4 length trench coat instead of a blazer just to complete the serious look.

The fact you don't like suits shouldn't matter.

Everything else you said was going so well until you started talking about a trench coat so forget about the idea of making yourself look like a hard man.

Swallow your pride and get yourself a suit.

Haven't talked to my solicitor yet since the last hearing as the trial isn't until Feb next year but I'll be taking a small rucksack again (like last time) with some essentials just in case the worst happens. Just out of interest...do you know what personal items inmates are allowed to have in their cells these days???

This is quite a nice list.

https://prisonadvice.co.uk/what-to-take-to-prison/

Toiletries brand new unopened will make things slightly more straightforward.

TVs and stuff like that in cells are available to prisoners based on incentive schemes for good behaviour and the prisoner pays to rent them.

Just go for the conventional suited and booted look as much as you can
I dont advise wearing the Delboy/used car salesman coat in the courtroom

Read the reviews for that coat.

Laughing

Do yourself a favour and wear a suit. If you're the only defendant there that day who has bothered to dress suited and booted them you'll have put yourself in an advantageous position for such little effort. It's beyond me why someone would not want to give themselves an advantage like that.

You don't want to be walking out the courtroom thinking "damn that went badly, maybe I should have presented myself to the court a bit better".

As long as you don't steal the suit, there are no disadvantages to being suited and booted. Every other option has drawbacks and disadvantages.

Make sure the suit fits you properly and that will be your attire all taken care of.

Now now... lets have non of your biker fashionista nonsense !
Remember you're all filthy, stinking, knuckle dragging barbarians
The coat is just a coat and otherwise fine, but not
the conventional sober look you want to convey in court.
