I've never understood, why on this site, it is such a problem when someone posts a link to a new website for bikers that they have created. WTF is the problem with it? You click on the link or you don't. Is it the 'power' of giving someone bad karma? Is that it? If so sad fawkers you are. Fair enough if it's a get me rich spam but when it's from someone who prospectively loves bikes like we all do...Don't overreact like an arsewipe. Thumbs Down

It's mainly the fact that people sign up just to advertise over web sites and don't contribute to the forum as a whole. To me it's a little rude.

Who is over-reacting? Me, for the spam rating or you over the spam rating?

Now he has edited and given a little intro then the post is much better. It's not so much the content of the post but the delivery.

Rude??? How can it be rude to share an interest? How likely is anyone to contribute to this forum when things get as aggressive as they do? Basically being told to f/off? Keyboard heroes sums it up so well.

Maybe you just need to chill out a bit Laughing

He wasn't being told to "f/off", just not to spam with advertising with his first post.

A little hello etc before launching into the advert patter at the very least would be a lot better Thumbs Up

I haven't given a rating yet because there's nothing to judge. There isn't enough evidence as you seem to feel that suggests it's spam. How is the topic spam??? Oh and please don't go down the avenue of posting smilies and insinuating your soo laid back your horizontal. It's dull and been done a gazzillion times before. You overreacted like so many others do.

Why would I not be laid back? I'm sat at home having a beer Confused

You make it seem like giving a rating is a big deal, which to you it might be, but to me it's not. I rarely give a Thumbs Down rating, but in this case I did. Maybe if it had been another day I might not have bothered. It's really not a big thing.

I generally 'spam' rate it if its their first post and all the've said is "come to this website, it has no one registered so we need your 6000 'active' members to populate ours a bit" and they dont usually post again. Rolling Eyes

Current members that have made 'friends' over this site have produced websites and people have taken a look, no spam ratings etc.

Its just when some random person comes in to this forum where there are many knowlegable members (and not so...) generally good atmostphere (if you dont go in off topic Shocked ) to tell our members to go join some other forum with out even intoducing them selves Exclamation Confused

Yeah, just convinced my self to rate it now Thumbs Down Smile

When someone comes in here advertising a forum that is trying to cover exactly the same grounds that this does, I personally consider it rude.

This is more on the edge, but the polite thing to do would be to maybe add themselves to the links section or email the admin (who would ignore them I'm sure Confused), to check that it's ok.

Sadly there are many forums set up by someone who has found out they can download free forum software and not really thought it out much, as this example seems to suggest.

Its not FREE forum software actually, Its Vbulletin, Far better than PHPBB!!!

I use forums that utilise both, a forum such as this tends to offer more over your average Vbulletin forum. Not really better than phpbb; anyway, the major task for a new forum is to get people posting and to get a society forming.
The design and features of yours do not seem to encourage this.

I would be posting a lot more, However you lot have convinced me not to.... Thumbs Up Delvard Thumbs Up seems a nice guy, but the rest, you lot are idiots...God.... Middle Finger Middle Finger

Which is one of the reasons why the majority of 'upstart' sites do not survive - the people trying to promote them tend to be rude to potenial users when their own possible rudeness is questioned.

To be fair, people are usually warmly welcomed when they're not trying to promote their own bike sites in the first post Smile.

Of course, as the community in general as got larger it makes it harder to get to know who's who with out lots of posting.

However the regional forums do seem to be doing their job in making a bit 'easier' place to say 'hi' (apart from the SE to some degree, who don't tend to keep to themselves quite as much.)
