Loosing close friends.

So here's the deal, a couple of you may have read various things about my close mate Paul. I've known him since i was in Year 4 and if i was still in school i'd be in Year 13, you do the maths.

At the start of this academic year he joined my college but doing a different course. The other lads on my course, Craig and David had been ripping shit out of the whole of the past year but were also saying they didn't mean it etc.

So two days ago he broke up with his lovely girlfriend Steph after saying she wasn't showing him enough affection (lack of kissing, sex etc) even though he claimed to be in love with her.

Has he spoken to me since he broke up with her? Has he fuck. He ran off and has been pouring out his heart to Craig and David who've known him for less than a year. So i sent him a text saying Ok i feel like i've lost you as a mate all together, ta ta.

What does he send back? Nah ya nutter, just been upset about the whole Steph deal and been sorting stuff out, will fill you in tomorrow. Whatever, i decided not to push it, having recently made a new group of friends through my other hobby, kiteboarding.

But it's been niggling at my mind for the past ten minutes (when i sent him the text) and i just can't work out why he'd go to his friends his only known for less than year rather than me, is he in the wrong? Or am i just being paranoid?

Me and my best mate were inseparable in school, always up to tricks and causing shit for teachers etc, outside of school was even better.
He had been out with two girls in school, but they were really not his type so they were quickly shot of.
I left school about 3 years ago we were still doing the same old things but in the past 10 months or so he has hooked up with a girl I’ve known longer than him, I don’t really see him now, he doesn’t have time for anyone unless it is really important.
Not that I mind this but he doesn’t make much effort to let me know he’s still there, I’d love to see him more but I don’t want to stop him from doing what he likes.
It’s a bit shitty but as long as they let you know they are there if you need them I think that’s good enough.

Right, if you have a good group of mates, which i do, there's about 10 of us who all get on like a house on fire and have known eachother anything from 18 years to 2 years.

every now and then someone will get loved up and drop off the radar for a few months.

and what do we do? we're happy for them, and if/when it messes up or they decide to see us more we welcome them back, rather than getting all girly about it.
