Looks like Trump is going to win, or should it be Kamala is going to lose.

I think the result can be mostly credited to the performance of Sleepy Joe at the debate.

Kamala isn't a good enough actor either and she thick as two planks.
In his day Biden was a good choice - about 15 years ago.
Old clips of him are like a different person.
The US seems to have an odd way of electing geriatrics for what is a demanding 'job' in many ways.

Trump winning is nice and all but the major differences this time round compared to 2016: Trump looks to have won both the electoral college and popular vote. Republics will probably control both the House and Senate. And Trump has a better idea of how politics works this time round.

Either the USA will plunge into the fires of hell or turn into an economic power house, depending on your political outlook, but it will happen quickly.

The real fun begins in 2028 if they have JD Vance vs. Gavin Newsom.

I was going to put a bet on Trump winning a few weeks back but the odds weren't that good. The odds were good for Trump winning the popular vote Brick Wall

One word: Covid.

Several political commentators have pointed out: if they'd let Trump win the 2020 election instead of "fortifying" he wouldn't really have got a lot done in terms of destabilising the Global Hegemony, Deep State, Headless Tyrant or <insert tinfoil bogeyman here>

Now though, he's had time to reflect and surround himself with people who are... I struggle to use the word "better" Thinking More hilarious anyway Smile

I see Sadiq Khan has been respectful of the US election result - not Laughing

Just the usual Sadiq Khan rhetoric although I find it rather hypocritical of a Muslim to say

"The lesson of today is that progress is not inevitable.
"But asserting our progressive values is more important than ever - re-committing to building a world where racism and hatred is rejected, the fundamental rights of women and girls are upheld, and where we continue to tackle the crisis of climate change head on."

I mean, chucking that at Trump when there isn't a Muslim country that totally upholds the rights of women.

What do they expect? Campaigning with a dull cardboard cutout of a candidate, on issues that nobody but a minority of middle class white women and celebrities give a shit about.

Anyone who is shocked by this is an imbecile.

I have seen some comments that 'no woman could possibly vote for Trump' what's that all about I daren't ask or would get a stern lecture about something I had no interest in.
It seems unlikely that only men voted for him even if he is admirably well tanned and athletic.

It's almost like "women" aren't a single bloc and some may possibly hold centrist or right wing views.

But I'm so intelligent, educated and enlightened I cannot possibly understand why anyone would see things different from me? Isn't democracy bad?

The irony of the Trump campaign for calling out Kamala for not conceeding whilst she was writing her speech that would conceed when the orange one still hasn't conceeded losing in 2020 isn't lost on me.

He's going to be a really bad winner and show absolutely no grace whatsoever.

I'm sure the impeachments are already ready to be filed against him on day one.
The way Trump was demonised last time was unprecedented they are already at it here again too.
Classic derangement syndrome as before.

I sure am looking forward to my trip to the UK at Christmas, by which time my dollar will gets lots of your lovely plastic pound notes... and before rampant inflation hits us late next year... Neutral

Our state board of education has decided that it will temporarily pause a ban on 'to kill a mockingbird', 1984 and that total pile of 16th century filth, Romeo and Juliet...

Oh I'm sure it's on their pending list, that one has already bitten the dust in quite a few red states, Florida and Texas being the most notable.
(By that I meant pre-election red states, as it looks like there are even more of them now.)

Our grandchildren's
(although I still don't actually *have* any of those)

I often wonder what weird lives they will have, with too much screentime and much less wildlife* - not to mention all these flakey Gen Z edicts that encourage wimpy attitudes to coping with life's slings and arrows, unable to make it into work today cos they tripped over the electric car cable running from the house to the car charging in the street. Rolling Eyes

*Eeek there's a four-legged spider with a tail under the sofa , etc etc

Given the kids all vape nowadays, will they know what fire is? Can you picture Zoomers trying to figure out matches? Laughing Guy Fawkes is holding it down on the fire front for the moment but it won't be long before black powder is replaced by swarms of LED drones. For safety Sad

I noticed people struggling with matches 40 years ago when having a fire at home was no longer almost essential as central heating took over.
They knew how to strike them but it went wrong fast after that.
