Sorry to hear about the accident....bad luck getting all those injuries.

If youare serious about getting back on bikes - the sooner tyou do it the better. Maybe just start out as pillion and wokr up until you feel comfortable again. To be perfectly honest I'm still nowhere near as confident on a bike as I was before my accident....but I'm getting there.

I've got bridgestone BT-090s, dead grippy and good wet weather performance - you have to be pushing it in the wet to get a slide. Well unless its really pissin it Wink Sad

Back to the topic.
Bad luck with the injuries. How do you gather that a car would be safer? At 80mph taking that corner the car could've still skidded. Then the oncoming car coulda hit you side on. Killing the driver of the car and maybe even you. It's how, not what, you ride/drive that makes the difference.
I'm happier knowing that if I decide to ride like a twat and come off or hit something I pretty much only have myself to worry about. Rather than risking the lives of up to 10 ppl (average cars).

At least it's good to hear that you're ok now mate...

These kind of accidents affect different people in different ways, and they each have their own way of coping with it.

I have two mates who have nearly killed themselves on bikes - one of them is adamant that he will never touch a bike again (although he has nothing against them), whilst the other mate has just bought a 1 litre bike!

I reckon that taking a break from bikes may be a good idea...you can realise how much you miss them sooner! Razz ...there is a natural sense of security (for *most* ppl, anyway) when you are stuck in a cage, but as others have said, it's not actually that much safer. However, you should hopefully realise just how boring it is in a car, and get that VFR! Smile

Just take it easy though, and remember that you have nothing to prove to anyone except yourself.

what demonic said.....

Seeing as I've not got anyone who's life I would seriously mess up if I was killed I'd rather put *myself* in the dangerous situation if I'm gonna go fast, rather than someones father/mother/daughter/sun etc.

As has been said... if you had been driving a car you probably wouldn't have been overtaking the ped anyway.

It's quite understandable not wanting to get on a bike again.... I hope you get well soon whatever you decide to do anyway.
