I always warn other riders of speed traps and police, I like to think that one day someone will warn me and save my bacon. A quick flash or hand gesture is all it takes. It's easy then to say you always greet other bikers if you're stopped.

I'll argue the toss in court if I ever got booked for it (I don't really know what the charge could be).

If it was seen that his actions were more than merely preparotory in the commission of the offence then he could be convicted as if he had actually gone through with it Wink

Oh, yes, forgot Doh! The 'going equiped' angle. May end up with a slapped wrist but don't think the CPS could be bothered nowadays Sad

Just thought, is riding a bike then tantamount to 'going equiped' Laughing ? A thought for a new thread perhaps Wink

I still think advising other riders/drivers is a good idea.

I think we all would. I just wouldn't do it where the police officer could see me! If I did, I would expect a bollocking!

Technically its obstructing a police officer.
Getting away with it or not depends on how harshly the police choose to word it. if they want to make out you were intentionally doing it to assist others in speeding and not getting causght then you could be in serious trouble. If you can argue that you were just waking hello to a fellow biker then unless they can prove otherwise thent here is little they can do.
