I bought my jacket from Hein Gericke as part of their end-of-line clearance sale for £75 and it has been adequate with the built in elbow and shoulder protection.

I bought quite a bit of other stuff from https://www.racespec.co.uk/acatalog/Motocross.html as their enduro gear was reasonably priced at the time.

As for knee protection I bought some workers knee pads from B&Q for £12.These have a hard plastic outer shell, with two layers of differant density foam to go against the knee. These have proven more effective than some pukka MX gear and have been shown to be a worthwhile purchase.

Slightly on the topic....
The more scary thing is when you're just drifting off to sleep and you hear this very heavy breathing coming through your door frame.
Constantly, in .... and out, in... and out.

I've checked and yes, it's the dog with his nose up against the slightest crack, then amplified by bouncing through a 1mm gap.

Good and bad news. On the positive, i've now got hold of boots/armour/gloves. Friends got an old helmet hes going to give me too, and an unwanted jersey suit - are these actually useful to prevent getting mud everywhere or more just a fashion thing Confused ?

Which brings me to the bad news - it looks like i'm not going to be insured to ride other bikes as the policies offering it with my ZX are a good £200 odd more Mad

Is this going to be an issue at all or could I just drive to the offroad area and presumably use them there as insurance wouldnt be relevant Thinking Do 'green lanes' require insurance or is it considered private land or similar?

Insurance is required, they are public roads so all rules/laws apply as they would any other road. Not likely to be caught on a lane but if you're travelling on road between lanes then it's quite risky. Never been pulled by police until last week when coming out of a lane on my ktm.. They had no excuse they just wanted to check my insurance etc. oh no, wait.. Apparently the number plate is hard to read because of how tall the bike is.. So they pulled me Laughing he didn't ask for anything else apart from my full name though and address, so you could probably get away with it if he don't pull the owner of the bike aswell!

I was thinking of a location for off road riding like Enduro kent or similar where you wouldn't need insurance.

I won't be down for a couple of weeks, because it turns out for once the weather is actually worse in the south. (Or they just don't know how to deal with it.)

Jersey etc not massively useful, but is easy to clean the mud off etc.

Ah good thats a relief, was worried it might fold the whole plan Rolling Eyes

I'll try pinch his jersey kit then. Mud all over that is marginally better than all over an old primark hoodie I guess Laughing

I'll add you to my insurance should you want to use the KTM. Would probably cost all of about £10 Laughing

That is if you fancied some road fun.

Cheers for the offer Pad.

Turns out it was a storm in a teacup - just got the policy bought and paid for. Apparently as i'm over 21 its automatically including riding other bikes, just didn't specify it originally on summary Laughing

All ready to get muddy and potentially bloody Mr. Green
