Seems Textiles > leathers: Any specific brands that are great (or to avoid)?

I was recommended Shoei Helmets and had a brief look at the GT Air? Anyone had experience with this?

Textiles are more versatile. If you can only afford one set of gear, get textiles. Generally speaking they're (more) waterproof, less sweaty in hot weather, and lighter. Leathers tend to be more outright protective, and look cooler.

As for specific brands, I don't buy enough gear to be well informed, but I've tended to buy a copy of Ride magazine and buy whatever is "Ride Recommended" and they've never steered me wrong.

Shoei lids are very good, but these days also very expensive. I've got a Shoei at the moment, but I'll probably get a HJC or similar next time. There are quite a few good mid-range lid manufacturers, but it depends what you're looking for, and more importantly, what fits your head shape (Arai's and AGV's don't fit me, for example). More expensive lids aren't necessarily safer either.

If you're looking for recommendations for yourself, start your own thread, and be as specific as you can about what you're looking for. The more specific you can be, the better the advice you're likely to receive.

Been trying to work out if just 'sophisticated' spambot to be honest. Tried to engage in conversation within another bumped thread earlier, but had no response, yet plenty of other thread necro going on.

You could well be right, and I've noticed the same thing, but I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not yet 100% convinced that it's going to turn spammy.

The replies don't add anything at all to the threads and the threads are old but the replies seem less generic than those from the other accounts that are going to turn spammy. Confused

Something is slightly astray but I'm not certain what it is. Laughing

For that reason I wouldn't be hitting this one with ban hammer just yet. Unless you paid me.
