For some reason I recall the words of the ex-chairman* of my local club: "I didn't like you much before, I like you even less now." Which I was quite happy to accept, I'm quite an acquired taste after all, but it did shock the punters and staff in the chippy when initially all I said was, "Hello, Tony, how are you?"

*He was disposed after getting drunk and headbutting a rando in the club, not a good look for the head of the committee.
