Due to the fun and games that are manay databases being shared with insurance companies, if your insurer has got your driving license number then they'll be aware of any points you get.

Whether you have to tell your insurer mid policy when you receive the points or whether you only need to tell them come renewal time varies between insurance companies.

For example, Admiral say "If you or any named driver get a fixed penalty or motoring conviction during your policy term, you must tell your insurer at renewal.

However, if you're banned from driving for any reason, you must tell your insurer immediately as they may need to cancel your insurance."

Whereas Adrian Flux say "You should notify us as soon as you receive a conviction."

So you can either read the small print for your policy to find out exactly when you have to tell them, or you could save some time by just phoning them up and telling them you won yourself some points.

As long as you keep to the truth with the renewal (with either the existing company or a new one) you're doing the right thing.

You also need to act with utmost good faith when you're covered by the insurance and that means telling them things which could be relevant.

Not telling them about points would be a very silly way of potentially causing yourself a gigantic headache that's all completely avoidable.

If about two or three days means two days then being able to say 50 hours sounds a lot better saying than 16 days. Laughing

It was in impound for about 13 or 14 days

You say impounded but I'm not sure that's what you mean. I presume it was recovered to a storage yard which you collected it from as opposed to it being seized and then impounded?

The bit that's relevant to the insurance company is the time from when it was stolen to when it was recovered. That's the bit that they care about because they're potentially liable for damage caused to third parties should the thief crash.

These details only matter if you're going to declare it now. You need to know the date and time it was stolen and you need to know the day and time it was recovered.

What does about two or three days actually mean?
