yeah... plus having 3 gallons of fuel hanging over the back of the bike would fuck up the handling (besides I'd be scared of having that much fuel sitting against my lower back Shocked ).

I doubt it would affect the handling that much, as it would weigh a lot less than an adult pillion. And I wouldn't really be concerned about any dangers since you already have at least 2 gallons of petrol in the main tank which is within a few feet of your face.

you wont carry much in those and they are quite expensive

I'm not suggesting you would carry alot, just enough to get you closer to a petrol station if you ran completely dry. Fair enough you need more if you're out in the wilderness, but I'll be sticking to populated areas most of the time. Besides they're not that bad, 10er each... not much when you think of the total cost of a touring holiday and all the kit required.

yeah fair point, when I first looked at it I thought it was hanging off the back more, like a top box, but actually its more over the rear seat. Still, about the safety thing, the fuel tank in front of you was manufactured to rigorous safety standards, a box of fuel sitting right at the back of the bike, with exposed tubing, isn't quite the same thing.

Luggage space is always at a serious premium, unless you actually expect to have to use them, imo I wouldn't bother taking them.

Not a great idea to run much into reserve either, ends up dragging the shit from the bottom of your tank through your carbs, though more applicable to older bikes.

Strangely, I use petrl stations instead of cans and bottles, seems to work for me. Rolling Eyes

i think its for long distance touring when you dont know when you are gonna see the next petrol station

not day to day riding

the guy with the fuel cell does endurance races where they do 1200 miles in less than 24 hours
