Number 39:

Hit from behind by an R1200 half way down a slip road. Thrown off to the right hand side. Both bikes went down on the right. Had a message from his insurance to admit liability before I'd even been seen by the doctor.

Damage to my VFR: Cracked pannier, scratched fairing, snapped mirror, bent levers, bent footpeg, cracked pannier (looks like the pannier might have saved the bike from further damage). Currently being assessed for internal damage.

Damage to his bike: Light scuff on mirror.

Number 40:

Light rain earlier in the day, approaching a hair pin turn in ever so slightly damp conditions. Didn't slow down enough/started slowing down too late, and rolled over a manhole cover.
Face first into the kerb, bike landed on me leg. Luckily a motorcyclist behind me pulled up and helped me wheel the bike round the corner out the way.

Damage to the bike:
Handlebars bent slightly
Left indicator, gone... literally, just gone Confused
Gear lever bent out of place
Couple of scratches here and there

Damage to me:
Although faceplanting the kerb, didn't feel a thing (Replaced my helmet though)
Bruised leg
Dignity hurt

Number 41

Had a ride out today to check if my new mirrors were any better at staying in place at 60 than my old ones, also to check out where I was going for a survey tonight.
That done I was carrying on and saw a gate on the right hand side that looked like another possible entrance to the survey site, I then spotted a lay-by on the left and thought, perfect, so hauled anchors as I was doing about 55 and it was quite near to me.
I got on to the lay-by fine, but must have been too heavy handed on the brakes, front wheel went on the gravel and I landed on my shoulder. Luckily I was going quite slow by then, maybe 10-15mph.

Damage to the bike:
Front brake lever/light button unit swivelled round.
Scuffed the exhaust.
Bent the right hand rear indicator mounting bracket.

Damage to me:
Stiff and sore right elbow.
Stiff and sore right shoulder.
Sympathy pains in my left elbow for some reason.

My first ever off... Does that make me a real boy now?
As an added bonus though, the mirror arm didn't move a millimetre in relation to the mount \o/ a vast improvement on the old ones.

43.

Going through a left hander onto the Tilbury Dock approach road at about 50 or so, and the front let go. If anyone knows it, it's just past Brett's tyres.

I broke 2 toes on my left foot, and suffered some pretty savage grazes all down my left side, as well as a very painful right shoulder.

Bike was totalled. Bent forks, every panel was scuffed, swingarm was apparently damaged, and yes, you guessed it the subframe was twisted. According to the assessment it was a £9400 repair bill.

bleh.

few meters down the road today. was only wearing gloves and helmet, for a short 30mph limited bimble to the seafront.
ankle is swollen but thats it. stop quite fast from 30....

cyclist jumped a light, cutting across me. I braked quite a big harder than I should have and that was that.

I should have practised hard emergency braking (my cg125 reactions took over!) , this probably wouldnt of happened..

lots of scuffs, needs gear lever, mirror, indicator and new crash bung bolt, which snapped....

not sure if i will be replacing the panels or engine cover...

Changed from third lane of dual carriageway, as two cars were trying to turn right thus blocking it. Checked my right mirror and blindspot before passing it [for any incutting cars and also to change back to third lane after passing] it was clear, went past the two cars, then moved out.

Next thing I know Im standing up shredded and the bike 50 metres away. Handlebars had scoured across a bmw 1's passanger side door, in which it had stopped in the third lane against crash barriers. I don't fully know where the hell it came from, hoping to talk to the driver tomorrow in person to go through it all and perhaps jog a memory or make sense. Being so smacked out on adrenaline did not help, I picked the bike up like it weighed nothing but refused treatment after checking my boney and squidgy bits.

Damage on Bike - totally melted crash bung, scrape on side indicator panel, scrapes on metal engine parts but only shallow. It started up again like a dream when moving it onto side pavement the tough bugger.

Gear - all fucked except alphine star boots, only slight. Leather Jacket will be having its armour taken out and used for casual going out wear [and retelling the story to interested people, but multiplying the legendary factor by 100]

Me - Slight bumps on knees, scrap on right elbow [?!!! leather jacket had not ripped] massive scrape on my right hip as somehow the leather jacket had lifted up.

To top off all the crazyness my mind seemed to be in, I rode home! Then was convinced to go to hospital to clean out the hip wound of tarmac. A combination of my stubborness, adrenaline [a lot of it..] and deafness is why I didn't ask and wait for police and ambulance..she could have been totally at fault. It's like all my senses [whats left of it] went fully out the window, do not even recognise myself yesterday!

No witnesses stopped by to stay and assist btw, except a surveyor who handed me water and the bmw driver. Due to traffic and not being able to lipread through a fence I had no idea what he was saying nor the bmw driver as traffic was facking my hearing aids up, but will try and find him at some point.

What I get from this? A possible learning experience, don't assume two cars blocking a lane unable to move due to oncoming traffic is safe to pass and move over on after. DO ANOTHER FRACKING LIFESAVER AGAIN!

Gah.

EDIT: updated with pics.

merging onto the A1 Northbound from colsterworth, didnt anticipate my mate flying up my right hand side instead of sitting to my left like he usually does.

i merged into him, both stayed on

Damage to self - Bruised pride, very pissed off at merging into my mate
Damage to my bike - split welds and bent front frame, smashed front fairing, lights twisted off at 45 degrees

Damage to mates bike - small scratch on nose cone, split seam on tail unit, scratch on pillion grab handle - all semi masked by his sliding it across a road and into a ditch at *ahem* legal speeds officer Wink so not too badly damaged.

im a complete tool for this...

Approaching a roundabout on a road i know is dodgy having crashed on it before (its a road that runs through what used to be a massive steelworks with half a dozen roundabouts that all lead nowhere)
Road was damp but not raining at the time . Applied brakes and back end locked up. released brakes tried to catch it but no go. Cue back end fishtailing and me highsiding Sad.
Bike is a write off: fairing smashed, handlebars twisted, tank dented, forks twisted and frame dented where foot brake smashed into it.
Im ok: cracked radius where it joins elbow on left arm and strained tendons on right thumb.
3rd crash in 3 years riding. 2 of them commuting on that same feckin road. Think ill go a different way to work from now on lol

was going to do my module 1 test back in january sometime, came around the last bend before the test centre, it sort goes uphill over the top then a tight left, bit sleepy as it was early, not paying attention, hit a manhole cover on the bend and slid on the floor like a numpty Sad

damage to bike : smashed indicator, bent footpeg, scratches to paintwork

damage to me : couple of scratches

lesson learned- always watch for manhole covers!

11th September 2011 - Number 50!

What happened: On the way back from the Brighton Burn Up (where it was discussed with friends that none of us had crashed in a while), we decided to take a detour and investigate some coastal roads.

Get to this corner https://g.co/maps/5ef7e, leant in and the back tyre stepped out and then kicked in. Now on a collision course for the kerb, I tried to lean in again but there wasn't time... Hit the kerb, bike goes over into the ditch and throws me. I did a forward somersault and landed moments later on my head further into a marshy cow field.

Previously mentioned friend turns around to park up and gets his bike stuck in the marsh too. Embarassed

The damage: Scratched up LHS fairings, need new indicator and cracked the front mudguard. New helmet required too.

Lessons learnt: 1) I'm a plonker. 2) Look further ahead. 3) Consider changing the rear tyre.

Number 51. Son-in-law took my bike through to his mate for my new can and belly pan on. I took his newly resprayed and beautifully fettled ZX6r (the one I was going to have last year) to work and back. Put it in the garage when I got home. He texted me telling me he was on his way back at 10pm. I went round to the garage to get his bike out ready for him coming back. Walking it out backwards, lost balance and dropped it against the wall where the door hinges are. Big crease in petrol tank. Fucking mortified. He was ok with it, but I didn't sleep that night and am still pissed off about it. I have no idea what happened. It's way lighter than my Hornet, so how I lost it I really don't know.

And after all that the link pipe was too short for my bike and the brackets for the belly pan were wrong, so nothing was changed on mine. Waste of time and should never have happened.

I don't know how much it's gonna cost to repair/replace, but I will pay for it to be made right though.

EDIT. Plainly I can't bleedin' count. No wonder I dropped the bike. D'oh!

No. 52

Complete rider error on my part, my first big spill and I'm kinda glad I got it out the way and came out unscathed. Basically, I was on the CG125, aimed at the wrong exit on a roundabout and instead of slowing down to safely manouver I thought "might as well kneedown it" and tried to tighten the corner up at speed. Peg scrapes the ground, rear loses grip and I lowsided. Skidded for a good 15 metres before doing a couple of rolls and hitting the kerb. Nobody else was around so damage was just to me, my gear and the bike.

Everything on the right side of the bike is scratched to fuck and the wiring for the indicators is somehow damaged. Absolute bastard as I was going to put it on ebay this morning, lost a good few hundred pound I could really do with.

Damage to me is just a sore neck (was wearing a forefield back protector so this could've been a lot worse) and a couple of lost layers of skin on my right forearm. So glad I was wearing full leathers, I don't know how well my textiles would've held up.

The helmet and gloves didn't take any impact, boots are a bit melted on one side but puirely cosmetic, leathers have a hole in the knee and a small tear on the right arm (where the stretch fabric meets the leather, somehow this area met the ground).

Number 54

Driving home from work on Saturday, around 11pm, Dark, Wet, Horrible.

Taking a left hand turn and the front just slipped out, throwing me onto my left side, slid a little, luckily only going like 20mph.

Damage to bike:
Bent Forks
Cracked Front Fairing
Completely lost indicator
Gear lever Bent
Scratches and Scuffs

Damage to me
Sore left knee where trapped by bike
Little scrape on knee

Luckily my gear took all the brunt, boots scuffed, palm of gloves shredded, trousers torn/ripped.

Managed to get the bike fixed up on Monday at local garage for £172 (y)

Rode it home after falling!

I put that because thats the word they used in the workshop, they could have just been twisted, holding the bars straight, the wheel pointed to the right lol.

Number 55

22/9/11

Coming around a left hander too fast, leaning too far over, I think. Didn't see any manhole covers or white lines but it was dry so shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I blame it on me going like Stoner on shitty tyres Laughing

My tyres are enduro tyres anyway and the rear is a golden boy if any of you have heard of them? They are known down here for being deadly Laughing

Basically come round this left hander then next thing I know I'm sliding across the road. No cars around but some people shouted over the road to see if I was okay. Just got up and rode on Razz

Ripped my kevlars but my knee would be fucked if it wasn't for them. Leg was a bit sore yesterday evening but its fine now.

Live and learn... Wait til I get my bandit on the road with some decent tyres Thumbs Up

Damage to me: Sore leg yesterday, ripped jeans.

Damage to bike: Grip torn, lever grinded a bit, peg bent a bit (sprung so isn't noticable to the eye, just feels wierd on the foot).

But I fell off a while back and did the grip and lever on the other side so think its time for a new set of grips and levers.

Bit of a shitter but just need to take it a bit easier.

Number 58

My first outing in the wet.
Dark, heavy rain and little experience = fail.
It was going so well so I got a bit too confident and er leaned into right hander on an odd square roundabout thing in Cheltenham thought hmmm that's too far as she lost grip and gracefully slid down onto the tarmac. I was going fairly slowly and there was nothing else on the road which was a bonus.

Damage to bike
Bent mirrors which miraculously all fit back into place today.
Broken rear indicator
Foot peg pretty worn
Bake lever scuffed

Damage to me and kit
Boot ankle has lost outer coating
Somehow my (totally inappropriate light cotton) trousers are fine
Bruised and scraped right hip, thigh and elbow
Injured pride and slightly knocked confidence

last week . downed on a slidey island corner at 4;30 am on a dewy road after a fresh resurfaced road . snapped a foot peg off. small dent in tank. scratched a bit no real damage luckily the bike ploughed into soft light dirt i went flying over a crash barrier and knocked some wall down a bit . bike was almost fine but i didnt have tools with me to fix it on the spot as it would not start or bump. had a 4 mile push home up hill mostly . picking up a spark plug and ill be back on the road tommorow. irony is that last time i did that journey coming from a party i was all sorts of high and drunk and rode great .being more responsible these days i had purposely not drunk that night .i commended a man who ran over from a petrol station to see if i was okay . it must have been quite a comical crash to witness as i ran through the air . i think that if i did not have the agility of a cat i would of been worse for wear. cried for my bike a while but was laughing about it by the time i got home so its all good .and yet again stupidgit survives unscathed Mr. Green
