Hi,
there not as expensive as you might think....
i looked in homebase the other week & the piranha (black & decker?) set of hss bits was over 25 quid.
i bought a set of cobalts for around 20 quid.
best bits i have ever used. broke a couple of the small ones (1,1.5mm) being heavy handed, but the others are still going strong nearly 2yrs later, & i use them almost daily.
found the de-walt ones excellent quality, & worth buying singly off interweb.

Just a quick update in case anyone else comes across this thread - I got the studs out no problem. Had been dousing the studs with penetrating oil every day for for a week. I got them out no problems with a Sealey VS7232 it's a good design and grips really tight.
