That's why I said "involvement" as that's what the crime ultimately boils down to in most people's minds. (Stormy Daniels is already doing a media tour calling for Trump to be sent to jail.)

Your explanation is probably the most accurate and concise summary of the actual case but I'm suggesting that for the plebs it reads like a set of Matryoshka dolls.

As for altering the course of an election - a little bit of whataboutism - there's suppressing the news around the Hunter Biden laptop. Trump used money and lawyers to cover shit up whereas Joe cheaped out and used the FBI Wink

Whatever you think of Biden and Trump, everyone's spending the upmost resources making sure the playing field isn't level for the other fella; serving the People's Interests is way, way down on the list Sad

Not sure if you have me confused for someone else, Biden is about as appealing to me as Trump is. If I had my way any US politician still in office over 70 (Bernie excepted, if he stepped down quietly) would be exiled to a previously deserted island and left to get on with it. There are quite a few younger ones on all sides deserving of exile too, but over 70 would be a nice start.
Heck, I'd be quite happy to ship various UK politicians there as well.

I don't think I'd just throw people in the bin just 'cos they're old. With that line of reasoning anyone young goes as well as they've not lived long enough to know anything.

I will acknowledge American politics does seem a bit "boomer heavy" at the moment. European politicians seem very youthful in comparison.

Phwoar, Macron looks good enough in that line up to go in 'the people you really shouldn't' thread. Very Happy

I know there are plenty of older capable politicians out there but there should be a cutoff point someplace and as the life expectancy for a US male averages at 74.8 years it seems a reasonable starting point that a politician shouldn't be in office longer than the average lifespan. It might even be an incentive for them to increase the population's access to healthy living if the age of service was directly linked to the average life span. Very Happy

The odd thing that just seems to have happened with UK politics is youngsters as MPs, cabinet ministers middle-aged and then retired out of harm's way to the House of Lords - no laws or mandates required.

The US probably needs some sort of rebalance of power between the Senate and Congress. I don't have a clue as to how you'd go about that but an age limit seems like a blunt instrument Thinking

What say you on term limits for the administrative state?
