As for individuals, perhaps they could think if they could use the car/bike a little bit less, and their feet a little bit more.

I use bus and train every day to get to work, does that count?

Costs double what it would if I used my bike everyday, but hay, public transport is just so wanderful that I love using it! Confused

How the hell that idiot Mayor of London (yes you Livingstone!) expects people to use public transport when its overpriced, overcrowded, overheating and unreliable is beyond me. He neads to get a grip on reality, stop using he chauffer driven car to get to work and live like everyone else for a few months, then he'll know what the real world is like. Plonker! I agree with what you are all saying... but the fuel blockade is about a mile from my house and no other way of getting out of where I live - yes I live in an oil refinery!! (joke!),

so thanks for the warning that I will need to leave early on Tuesday!

Ideally I would like to be able to take, reliable, public Transport to commute everyday. Then just keep the bike for enjoying myself at the weekends. Then the higher prices that will come won't affect me as much.

Except that the buses and trains use about as much fuel per passenger mile. The only reason their fuel costs are lower is due to getting tax rebates on the fuel.

All the best
