Sorry to see you've decided to sell

Is it because you don't want a bike that's been abused like this anymore or is it the cost of repair? Neutral

Laura - just got back from a weekend away so only just read your thread. You poor girl, my first bike got nicked so I know how that feels, but setting fire to it really is beyond low.
Hope they catch the lowlifes who did it.
(((hugs)))

Sorry to hear that Laura.

I'd report it stolen right away in case the insurance people start getting funny. Then claim against your insurance policy. That's what you've been paying for. Use it.

Shame, nice bike.

I'd be thinking carefully before geting the insureance company involved..

It will quite probably be written off (beyond economical repair), which will make selling akward (i wouldn't want a bike that had been written off because it will show up on the hpi check when you sell it again afaik) the damage will probably be roughtly the same as your excess anyway so you probably wont get much help...

I totaly understand you wanting to sell though, if you can afford a newun then it will cheer you up hopefully Wink

If i caught anyone attempting to steal my bike theyd be eating all their meals through a straw for the rest of their short life.

depending on what your excess and likely cost of losing your no claims bonus is, its probably worth repairing. From the pics on Dusty`s site there is no more than £500 worth of repairs including a tire and a filler cap. Most of the other bits will be chaep from breakers/ebay, the respray would probably be the biggest cost. It depends on how attached you are to poppy, a direct replacement will probably be somewhere between £800-1200.

My commiserations. Really sorry to read about all this. Sad

The chavs who did this almost certainly live locally to where the bike was stolen from. They no doubt saw a good looking bike and got jealous.

Whenever you are out and about nearby I suggest you look all the chavs you see straight in the eye as though you know they did it. Sooner or later one of them will give themselves away.

As pete says, fire damage always looks worse than it actuall is. Rewired ignition, left switchgear, stripped and painted tank, new filler cap, and resprayed panels, left hanger fixed or repaired and new rear tyre is all it should need, and the rear panel if thats missing too.

Hopefully you will be able to fix her or find another bike you can love and devote your time to.

I will gladly help in sourcing parts for you and such like if you need it.

Remember, Don't let the bastards grind you down Smile.

Laura, a word of advice (without trying to sound like I am preaching or anything), from someone who has been in a similar position don't do ANYTHING (like decide to sell her, repair her, whatever) just yet while you are still angry & upset.

My H100 got nicked from my garden by the local arsehole element, and they stripped it down to the bare basics. I think I cried more when I got him back & saw what they had done than when I realised he had gone in the first place.

I was convinced that no matter how much work was done to repair him it would never be the same again, and just wanted to not have to see him anymore.

I was wrong. My other half hid him in the shed, then started sourcing the parts without my knowledge. They had taken off the lights, rack, sidepanels, chainguard, clocks, mudguards, ripped the ignition apart, dented the tank irreparably trying to prise open the locked cap, it was a mess. Took him about a month to sort out, and cost in the region of £120.

The first time I went out on him, I was still convinced I wanted to sell, despite the work that had been done. By the time I got home, I was crying again.

I still have him. He IS the same bike. take some time out to get over the shock, anger and hurt, and then decide what to do. You have many friends on here who will help if you want to repair, and I suspect that Mrs Big Pete may be very interested if you do decide to sell (? She still want one Pete?).

Thinking of you whatever you decide to do.

Sympathy for the bike Laura, it's a shame to see poppy in that state Crying or Very sad .

Seriously what is the f*cking point of nicking something if you're just gonna burn it. Get your own damn burnout bike and when you get caught doing your own burnouts maybe you won't get fucked up the arse for nicking a bike.

Alas, they probably won't anyway, thanks to the wonders of the judicial system.

Whats the f*cking point in nicking any bike in the first place, it's a f*cking disgrace how people can get away with such travesties. Lets face it, they were obviously jealous. It is so bloody annoying. Evil or Very Mad

Sorry to hear about the bike. Its one thing to take it for a joyride but to set fire to it at the end is plain spiteful. As said above, it does sound like the work of local morons so keep your ears open as you might get wind of who it is. W*nkers who do that sort of stuff are normally a bit dim and start bragging about it to everyone.

Good luck with looking for another bike. Its also nice to see all the messages of support for you on here, almost brings to tear to me eye Crying or Very sad
